I didn't find any topic like this, but if there is one- I'm very very sorry about making another one. And, since I wasn't very sure where to post this, I hope mods will find the right place for this, if this sub-forum is the wrong place to talk about this.

So, everyone- do you know what is NaNoWriMo? Has anyone ever participated in this contest? Have you won? Are you going to participate this year?

If you don't know what is NaNoWriMo, you can find more information about it here ---> www.nanowrimo.org

Two dead boys rose up to fight.
Back to back, they faced each other,
Drew their swords, and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise
And came and killed those two dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true
Just ask the blind man -- he saw it too.

NANO.

This will be my first year. Hopefully my highly-advanced homework-ignoring technique will pay off.

I've never done NaNo and I probably never will. I don't like the idea of rushing my novels. I write fast enough anyway (wrote 30,000 words since September 9th), so I don't find it necessary for me. Plus, I'm always really busy during it, which will continue to happen at least for the next four years.

I have always wanted to do NaNo, if not just to say that I have done it, because it sounds like a good kind of stress. However, November is always a super busy month for me so if I did do it, it would be unofficially and probably over the summer.

This will be my second year doing NaNo. I managed to win last year, squeezing in six thousand words on one of the last days. After this, I bought myself a nifty little shirt celebrating my victory! >:3

Fourth year. Three-time winner. I think I'll go for 70k, between college apps. NaNo saved my life twice.

... theoretically?

I've done NaNoWriMo before. It's good if you have trouble keeping to a schedule, as it forces you to get words down daily. It's also good if you have to make a competition out of everything. If you already write daily and set (and keep) goals for yourself, it's useless. It's purpose is pure output. A real devoted writer should get 50k down a month anyway

Exactly. Who needs summer dance camps when you can have NaNo in July?
