Welcome to YWO! A couple really important things: always read the rules. So far, so good. You cap your Is and use periods and apostrophes. These are all good things. Read the other stuff, though, in the FAQ and critique section, cause that's all important.

Other than that, there's the lovely bit of news about YWO having its own magazine, called Survival By Storytelling. The first issue just came out and currently there is a 10% sale at Lulu for it (enter GREATBOOK at checkout). The links are all in my sig. Some YWO members are in it and all sales go to paying them. Oh, and it's a magazine that publishes young writers and only young writers. Right at the top of my sig...go look!

Well, useful information... hmm. The forum link at the top has a drop down menu, and you can find recent posts/topics there. I didn't figure that one out for myself, even though I probably should have.

Hello Amanda. You might want to check out the FAQs and rules as well as critique guidelines for tips that'll help you settle in comfortably. You've already got all the basics right, so the rest is just a matter of exploring the site. Anyway, all that aside, welcome to YWO!
