Hey, when starting a debate thread, it's usually worth adding more context. Are you starting from a news article? Something you discussed in class? What kind of euthanasia? In what species? Why? Where?

The way I was told euthanasia is having the power to hive a person a merciful death. I think its wrong because killing is killing no matter in what kind of pain they are in.

I certainly agree. Killing is the same in all of its forms.

Like Isis said, I could use some context. It's hard to prompt an insightful discussion when you're speaking so broadly.

As mentioned, context would be great. Are we talking dogs or people? And what about it? The idea, or the act, or the law, or what?

Up until I was a sophomore in high school, I thought euthanasia was a country.

Wow Scotty. I think euthanasia is terrible because as you said it is still killing, When it comes to animals thought sometimes euthanasia is your only option or the other one is let them live in pain for the rest of their life and I don't like that. Euthanasia is still a terrible I have had 1 dog that had to get euthanized because they had over 12 bones broken and couldn't move and it was terrible because I was at my grandmas.

Terry Pratchett, a prolific and highly influential fantasy author, produced a short, one-hour documentary on assisted suicide; notably, Pratchett was pretty biased towards wanting assisted suicide, as he suffered from alzheimer's and wanted the power to die relatively cognizant and healthy, rather than suffering for a long time and having to put his family through the experience. It's still quite a good film though, and I think it can get away with being strongly biased when the neutral is to be so strongly opposed to this kind of thing. As a side note, Pratchett died to his Alzheimer's earlier this year.
