So this was a thing once, and it was really fun.
WHAT IT IS The poetic pair-ups call for two writers to partner up, create a thread and write a poem, or a series of poems, collaboratively in successive posts. You might play off of the images, symbols, metaphors, styles, structures etc of your partners' posts. The challenge, however, is to create a cohesive narrative. These can be associatively connected, but be sure the poems converse with one another in some other way--that is, feel free to write in your own personal style (if you have one), but be careful that the poems aren't wildly different from one another. The thread between you and your partner will probably work loosely like the thread-box poem, but I suspect there will be more conscious and obvious ties throughout. We can set up a poll to vote for the best pair-up thread (in terms of quality and of interconnectedness/logical agreement/narration). I'm thinking this should last about a month (March 1st to April 1st?), but thoughts on that? HOW TO PARTICIPATE / RULES

Me too! I like the idea of doing it for a month or so and having a defined start and end point, because these kinds of collaborations are really fun but they can be hard to sustain for a long period of time. A month seems about right to get something real done.

Wonderful! Yes, I think a month works well (and march-april is a transition into spring worth recording). Pair me up with lalodragon.

awesome! I'm glad you guys are down for a month. The best part is as soon as this ends, NaPo will begin. Poetry forever.
If there are other people that want to try, but don't have partners, I think replying here would be a good start. If you want to be thrown into a partnership at random, I can collect people's names and pair them up toward the end of Feb using names out of a hat or something. |
