I know that most of you use some form of adblocker to remove annoying advertisements. I do the same thing and sympathize with the desire to avoid flashing, singing, or otherwise really annoying advertisements.

However, blocking ads does harm YWO's revenue stream, in part because you do not see the ads we select for the site and thus never click them. But if you could please create an exemption for YWO, I would really appreciate it. We will never have flashing or singing ads here -- if we have ads that play music or videos, we will only allow them if the viewer has to click the play button (such as for movie trailers or something). All our advertisements (with the exception of the Google ones) are hand selected, which means rarely does anything get through me that isn't somehow related to writing, books, comics, movies, or nifty products I think our members might enjoy. In particular, our PW ads run on an auction system, which means that advertisers bid to purchase space. Bids go up as the value of the ad space increases; ad space receives its value based on page hits and click throughs.

So if you could create a domain exemption in your ad blocker and click the visual ads that are of interest to you, that would be awesome.

If you have any questions or concerns about any ads we put on this site, do not hesitate to let me know. Occasionally, something slips through that is inappropriate. We do our best to drop these as soon as possible (this hasn't happened in a long time, though).

Anywhoodles.

You heard the man. Start clicking on ads.

Infinity_man's ad-clicking journal, entry #1:
Stumbled upon a webcomic called Buttersafe. Amusing. Sometimes not so much. Lot of anthropomorphic animals, but nothing beats "Party Cat"
P.S Look up how to spell anthropomorphic.

Entry #2
Clicked on "Anachronauts". Was not prepared. So much text. Overwhelmed. Ran in terror. Peed self a tiny bit.

Gotta agree, Buttersafe is funny. Not as funny as certain comics, but funny anyway.

Today I found Turbosloth through the adblocker. Some of the jokes were chuckle-worthy, but because I'm a shallow asshole who judges others on their looks, I just couldn't get past the poor art quality. Also, a webcomic named "Turbosloth" decided to make fun of how cartoons make slow animals fast and fast animals slow.

Entry #4
Makin' the Best of It seems like a strange choice for this site, though I suppose it is a glass craft, so okay. My aunt blows glass like this, though she's only been doing it for a few years so she's not at this level. Some of this stuff is cute, but I imagine I'm one of the few people on this site who actually lives on their own and has to buy this kind of stuff (as the site is aimed at younger writers, after all). That said, $15 for salt and pepper shakers isn't quite on toe with my student cost of living.

I appreciate the reviews, but you don't have to click if you don't want to. I just try to pick things I hope some of you might find interesting. Hit or miss, I'm sure.

Oh, and I love the Etsy stores. I know they are super expensive sometimes, but you can find so many cool things on that site!

Done. So if I sit here and click ads over and over again for an hour straight does it help YWO? haha
