Thanks to everyone who suggested work for the spotlight! If you post a different type of work than is shown here, it's still eligable for future monthly spotlights - I've got my eye out for great artwork, other writing, and pieces posted in both the prose and poem threadboxes.

EDIT: If anyone wants to help with the spotlight, please let me know! I'd love an extra pair of eyes or three.

A lot of awesome work was posted during the past month. These stories and poems are all worth reading. Let the authors know what you liked, and maybe leave a critique or two in the original threads.

Short Stories
We Can't by ťan

Pele and the Moth by Fluke

Not a dream by JasChapell

Novels
Lupine by Thanatos (you could start with the prologue, but I dived in at the first chapter)

I am Sparrow by Sibylline J. Backe (check out the prologue and the first chapter to get started)

Poetry
Apocryphal Lane by Lykaios

Story Telling by Peppermental

Scotch by sbenzing

When the only thing between us is silence by Squint

It is! It just started this month (read, two weeks ago) and will happen every month as long as I can keep it going.

Suggestions from the threadboxes are totally welcome; I think this would be a great way to showcase good work that doesn't get a lot of attention. Often good stuff is posted there, particularly in the threadbox poem because it's the most active.

Also, if anyone wants to help me out with this that would be awesome. You could help by suggesting lots of stuff in the monthly suggestion thread (which will be posted in the last week of each month). You could help by VMing me suggestions throughout the month. You could pick a forum to read lots of stuff in. Whatever. I skim almost every thread posted in the 2 poetry forums and in the other writing forum, but I don't read nearly as much prose, so that's where the need is greatest.

Congratulations to everyone else who won! Completely deserving, and Isis, you know full well how your Claudine poems deserves to be highlighted too, tssk.

On a side note, this spotlight feature is making me want to write for the wrong reasons, mhmhmhmm.

Just read Peppermental's "Story Telling" poem. It was delicious.
