Hi! My name is Kelsey, and I'm new here myself (I joined last Friday). I love to write (but I'm not that good at it. x3).

Let's see, from what I understand it, you critique other peoples' works to get points. Depending on the points you have, you can post some of your own work. But that's under literature.

Under community is the forums, where you can chat and get to know people better. ^-^ There are also some really great games and rescources here.

Hm....you can also upload an avatar, profile picture, fix a signature and fill out your profile information by using the User Control Panel (CP).

Hope that helps. ;

Hey welcome to the site!

How the site works:
Under the logo at the top of the page, it says Community and Literature (and also Store... but still).

Community is basically general stuff like announcements, general discussion, debate, literary discussion, writing tips, games, and that kind of stuff. You should be able to tell by the forum names.

If you click on Literature you can find where we post stories, poems, and all that. It's recommended that you critique something before you post and that you critique two pieces for everything that you submit. You can find critique guidelines somewhere... but it basically says to go into detail about what you liked, what you disliked, what you think can be improved, etc. Basically, don't leave one sentence critiques. Try to think: now that I read this author's work, what can I tell him or her to help him or her improve? And you should be courteous. (Like don't say "this was terrible," say "you can improve this in a lot of ways" or "this piece has a lot of weaknesses" and then going into detail about how they can improve and what the weaknesses are).

(Here's site navigation in more detail: http://www.youngwritersonline.net/showthread.php?t=52)

EDIT: Here's how to critique in more detail: http://www.youngwritersonline.net/showthread.php?t=213

You know...Croc, I officially like you.

Croc basically handled all the stuff you need to know about how the site works.

As for me, I'm Shaun. You'll probably learn at some point during your stay that I'm insane. Either I'll make that clear on my own or Croc or GeorgeMichael will let you know with some whimsical phrase of some sort (the one you put for a merchandise phrase was hilarious by the way, Croc, and I mean that, I laughed).

Umm, what do you need to know. I'm one of the admins (Andy is the other one). I generally do whatever doesn't involve coding around here, and Andy does all the fun stuff, like making sure YWO stays functioning. Check out our store thing up top there, and feel free to ask me questions.

Oh, and just so you know, if you become an active member you are elegible to submit to our first magazine. You'll find a forum section that talks all about it if you go to the Community Page and look for "Survival By Storytelling". You could get published. Four YWO folks are already going to be in it. So, yeah!

It's late, but I think the site's been explained already, so I'll not try to do that in... the two seconds I have before I need to go to bed. Anyway, welcome, do you write fiction, or non fiction?

Information Overload!

What happened to the nice, simple greetings of yesteryear?

Hi.
