My parents definitely do. They're proud that I'm pursuing writing.

I'm already a nurse, so I don't think my parents would support me from writing. What matters to them is to earn lots of money to support our family before focusing on my interest. The weird part is I don't hate them. I think that family is the first priority before any selfish needs. And besides, I could use my free time reading poetry for a few minutes, right?

Why would a parent be against their child writing? Unless they were seriously against the child writing for their entire career, surely it wouldn't be a problem. I don't see how part time scribbling/typing on a PC can ever affect a parent's attitude to their child...

I can understand it. A doctor or a lawyer could make more money than a writer.

I mean, why should one have to turn writing into a career to get money?
(Unless one was going into publishing)
Money takes the fun out of everything...look at football these days, for example. Money rules the game, making it materialistic and boring.

I would love to write as a career. How is gambling in sports the same as making money for something you love to do? Obviously, it's going to take a while to be financially stable only based on your books, but I'd still love to try.
