i love to write. I am writing a new book. but I don't have a publishing deal yet but I'm hoping I'll have one when I finish school. So basically I wanna make new friends. Hi!

You won't have a publishing deal if you don't learn to capitalise your sentences. ;)

Just a warning: a pub deal is REALLY unlikely, unless your parents own printing press, or you're actually Dickens reincarnated. I'd advise you to do a lot of research into the industry so you know what the realistic chances are.

HI! You post your chapters in the lit section, btw. Finding it is half the challenge. A test of intelligence, if you will.

Welcome, ye new person. ^^ It's true what Imelda says, though. It doesn't mean you can't get published, just don't get cocky. :P Main thing is: we can help! :)

Hi :) I'm Adrienne and I hope you get the deal, but Imelda is right.
Just don't be another Christopher Paolini.
Please.

Hey Maz! It great to see a new user name :) with a big dream too. That's Awesome cuz the only way that that publishing deal is going to come is if you work extra hard and dream big. Just like me, I wish for a record deal but that is probably like a 1/100 chance or something but I never let any stop me from trying my best to get that record deal.
Anyway, welcome to YWO! I am sure you will have a blast!

Whos Christopher Paolini ?

He wrote Eragon and Eldest. And everyone here thinks he is just horrible but I really enjoyed Eragon. I haven't gotten to read Eldest yet.

What did they mean by don't be another CP?

Midnight_Moon
05-18-2008, 01:39 PM
Well, they don't really like CP (Christopher Paolini) so they don't want you to be like him.

Basically, he's the most unoriginal writer of this new century and probably will be until 2100.
Shaun has this idea that fantasy is never going to be truly original anymore, but he hasn't even bothered to try and come up with anything original. At least most other writers try their best to write something that doesn't look like it was plagiarised.

Really? I found him pretty original. I mean, fantasy in this age, all kinda copy each other.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Read more, MM. :p

Paolini's books have been proven time and again to be the Star Wars plot set in a LotR universe. Plus his writing sucks.

Couldn't have said it plainer, Imelda. MM, analyse the plot of the original Star Wars trilogy, then the plot of the Inheritence Cycle (as far as it has gone, and up to Eragon, as you haven't read Eldest yet) and you'll see some very "coincidental" similarities. Plus, the third book is going to be called Brisingr. When I heard that I thought: "Oh, how much more original can he get?" If you couldn't see the sarcasm in that, you need help.

Wow. I can't believe you've never heard of Christopher Paolini. O_o

At our Hastings, they're having a midnight release party for it. X_X The only thing worthy of midnight release parties is Harry Potter. Eragon doesn't even come close in comparison.

Howdy MAZ! Welcome!

OMG! I might know you! I doubt it, but... did you have a rabbit named Wallaby?

I have a horse named Diago!

...please don't freak out if you have no idea what I'm talking about! I just have a friend who gets called Maz sometimes, I guess.

...
Now I feel weird. I hope I didn't scare you away! I'm not insane, I promise!!! O____o

I was losing hope in the fantasy genre ... until I read ...

GEORGE R. R. MARTIN

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

-points at Imelda- Help me out here. I've got to convince these underage-people-that-should-not-be-exposed-to-books-with-violence-and-sex that fantasy can be brilliant and Paolini, as successful as he is, has touched nothing.

Oh, wait, I mean -- welcome, Mazzie! I'm hoping to get a deal before I finish school, because otherwise I'll have to work.
