Hi everyone, it's me, Zaphkiel. I bet you're guessing what this thread is about. Well wait no longer, because I'm making a club! Yes, I know it sounds like something I wouldn't normally do, but I want to make up for my past absences somehow, and I thought this would be a good idea. Plus, YWO and you guys are like another family to me Shaun is getting everytng set up as we speak, and I'm looking for new members.

Now, as President:rolleyes:, it's my job to tell you what this is about. For all you Anime fans, take this as an oppertunity to discuss Anime and Manga on a more intelligent, and fun basis. Daily topics will be given, and maybe even a small debate here and there.:D

Also, I'll have quizzes and questions of the day as well to make things more fun^^. It's good for anyone to join, whether you want to know more about Anime, or if you're already a fan. Oh, and ask questions if you need to! We'll have lots of fun, so come on in and Rock the Anime World!:cool:

I would like to be able to write stories then have the become reality. Fakia, from Princess Tutu, is able to write like this.

That is a good show, I've read the manga and seen the entire show. The best character is Shigure. Tohru is cool to, but her friend Saki Hanajima is also cool.

Shigure is funny. Tohru is cool. Kyo has some anger management issues. Yuki i s so cool, cal, and collected. Arisa Uotani and Saki Hanajima are both really cool too. Like I said before I like all of the characters! ^_^

Yeah, Momiji is so funny. Such a little kid but he is really 15 and still has a high voice. Tee Hee! Hatori is really cool too. He has a sad past though which is sad. Haru is really cool too. I just love his hair!

Lupin III Actually, FulllMetal Panic, I THINK. Such a hard question, can't really put my finger on it. But yeah, FullMetal Panic.

Having metal for appendages is hot. And alchemy would be awesome to use whenever something's broken.

My Neighbor Totoro. That was when I was five or six. After that I got into it after seeing The Castle of Cagliostro.

What do you guys think of Avatar: The Last Airbender, though. It's anime-styled, but people say that it contains a lot of elements (forgive the unintentional pun) of Western Animation. In my opinion, I love how smooth it is, and how style, function, practicallity and originality lace the series.

Ill have to agree that Avatar is very under-rated. Indeed it seems like a non-japanese anime, the sort that other countries "fabricate", Im guessing it is korean, though I have never checked anywhere. Its a pretty good show, just not my type

I have to say I have never seen it. From what I know about it, it looks kinda like a low rated anime. I don't know though.

Oh my goodness, some anime would be lucky to have fight scenes like they do. No offence to Inuyasha fans, but that series' fight scenes are so repetitive, whereas Avatar simply brims with creativity.

I usually hate Americanized Anime, but Avatar isn't so bad...
I also like a lot of movies in anime, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke.
I probably cried at least once while watching all three of those movies...:(

On a side note: Avatar is an American show. Just so you know. And it's crap. Everyone loves it and thinks it's anime, but it's not. There's nothing close to anime about it...it's just a pathetic attempt to mainstream something that shouldn't be commercially raped by the American business machine.

You want real anime? Try Ghost in the Shell, work by Hayao Miyazaki, or from the company Gainax which brought us things like Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi.
Try "The Place Promised In Our Early Days" by Mikoto Shinkai, which is by far one of the best anime movies I have ever seen...or Saikano, another tale that uses some similar themes. Yeah. Good anime all that. Avatar...not so much. Avatar is to true anime fans what Dragonball Z is to cartoon fans...crap.

Na-uh. American it may be. Influenced by western elements it may be. But crap it is not. Raped it is not. You may think so, but there are a lot of people who don't, and a few of them happen to know and draw anime better than you do.

Besides, while I admit that Avatar blurs the line a lot, it's the style and the fluidity of the series that a lot of people really admire. Anime is a much more versatile genre that is not to be hemmed in by one's standards. From shoujou to chibi, anime takes on different forms, and personally, I find the western elements in Avatar quite refreshing from the predictable and sometimes too confusing aspects of some too-artsy anime.

That last statement is exactly why Avatar is not true anime. It's American trash. And it's popular in AMERICA, not elsewhere. True anime fans don't watch it. It's an attempt to bring the anime style to America in a context Americans will understand, which makes it American and not a true anime at all. Besides, Avatar is far too predictable anyway and the characters are unbelievable and ridiculous. The only thing it has going for it is the fact that it is written in English, but it still falls prey to crappy voice casting that tends to plague dubbed animes from Japan.
Meh, I hate Avatar. I tried watching it and lost interest in about two seconds. It's too simplistic, too childish, and too poorly written for me. If it wanted to be refreshing it could have attempted to not come off like a crappy dubbed anime.
Besides, Anime should be in Japanese first. Not English.

Edward Elric because I don't like Inuyasha, Naruto is sort of a turd even though I love the manga, and Sailor Moon is a girl :P

It is Non-traditional, Western-influenced anime. But is still anime. I refuse to hem in such a large category of style into narrow standards. Avatar's got the eyes, the movement and the flow down. That's enough for me. And I know a lot of people who agree.

I refuse to call Avatar true anime. It's something else :P. And it doesn't have the eyes. There is a huge difference in the styles. You can see if it you watch a lot of true anime.

Yeah...Avatar's either a love it or hate it anime, much like that movie Cloverfield. A lot of my friends love the new approach on film, and another bunch of them detest it. None of them are 'in the middle' much like their stance on Avatar, too.

Still, I've got to give them props for the fight scenes. Those can get real sweet. Anyone else who disagrees needs to go eat their spleen. ^^

As for the Avatar discussion, I didn't like it, at all. I watched the episode where some king guy faces Aang (or whatever his name is) and it turns out at the end that he's an old friend or something. I decided it wasn't for me.

1. Favorite Anime? I think I'd have to say Outlaw Star. I know it isn't well known and it's uber weird, but I love it!
2. Who would you like to be? Uh- Probably Ed cuz I only know him and Inuyasha.
3. First Anime? Well, Pokemon if it counts. But I don't count that. Outlaw Star when I was way too little to be watching that show!
4. Favorite Character? Hm... hard one! I think... Either Riza Hawkeye or Faye Valentine for girls. I'm not sure. For guys, Vash the stampede or Gene Starwind. It's so hard to pick just one!

1)Fullmetal Alchemist!

2) Edward Elirc, since he's the only one I really know so far. But really, I think it'd suck to be him. I mean, you have these crazy homunculi after you, an annoying (but very good looking) colonel bugging you all the time, and you're like three feet tall.

3) Either episode one of Outlaw Star, or Spirited Away - but I don't remember which came first. FMA was what really got me addicted.

4) Do people from Final Fantasy count? Yoky didn't use them, so I guess I can't either...*sigh* Okay, Colonel Roy Mustang.

5) Alchemy powers like in FMA I guess...Then I could fix my broken head phones so I wouldn't have to keep using my crummy ear buds!
