Request: Formation of BossSMP Writer's Group

Hello there management and anyone who chanced by this post.

I would like to request the higher powers of this fine website for the privilege of basing a Writer's Group composed of myself and a few friends here in the form of a traditional "Group" for the purpose of exchanging writing and ideas amongst ourselves and critique our work in preparation for publication on this website, others, and/or under a traditional publisher. We have decided that starting a group here on the forum will be the cleanest and easiest way for us to accomplish this goal.

This group, titled the BossSMP Writer's Group, will consist of, but will not be limited to, myself, Motorthud, Sonnyb123, Leon, and Squrt. The two latter have yet to join this site but are planning to.

Um, we do all that anyway here - critiquing and helping and everything is what we do, and several people here have been published. Is there a reason you need your own group/area to do what everyone here already does?

We were looking for a place where just the four or so of us could bounce work and ideas off each other conveniently. If there were two of us we would use email; if there were more it would be easiest to just use the forum. But as it is with four the cleanest and easiest way to move work between just us four in preparation for later publication here would be in the form of private group.
This would be largely for getting opinions on our rough ideas and very early drafts; things we are not ready to release to a wider audience.

If you do not feel comfortable hosting our group, it's no big deal. We could use tumblr or another service to move work. It would be less easy but do-able.

I hope you consider our request, as it would certainly simplify my life and writing process, but if you do not wish to, I will understand. Thank you for your time.

I'll refer this to Shaun as I don't really even know if we can do that. We can't just make you an area that only you can see as that's not fair and it's not the point of this site. We also have a points system for critiquing and posting.

The Social Groups might work, but they are a poor platform for critiquing and stuff, as we've tried using them for critique groups in the past and they've either just been forgotten because they're so out of the way or have become confusing.

But I'll send this to Shaun and he'll get back to you when he can probably.

There isn't really a way to do that right now on YWO, unfortunately. That said, if you want to make it easy to share work between a group of people for a crit group, you can just use Google Docs. Create a folder, share it with your friends using their email, and add them all as editors/admin to the folder. They'll be able to add, delete, or edit stuff in the folder.

YWO is more a community, which makes it hard to do things like create tiny zones for individuals. That's a lot we'd have to keep track of :S

Thank you for your help Shaun! We'll try that google docs idea.
That said, I'm glad I found this website anyway, even if I'm not going to use it as I originally intended :)
