Script Frenzy!!!

During the month of April, the NaNoWriMo people encourage you to go out and try, in one month as is tradition with them of course, to write a whole script of a movie, play, graphic novel, comic book, or even a couple of TV show episodes in just 30 days. You can even adapt your NaNo novel into a script.


The Goal shot here is 100 pages (*GASP* not words??? :P)

it's not too hard, and it's really fun :) More so than writing a novel I might say... no I wouldn't... you know, they're both great. :)

OK, so I'm going to do this...because I've never done anything like this before....and I think it'll be a good experience for me. I do have a question though, how exactly would i go about writing a movie script? If anyone has any helpful tips....I would be most grateful!:D

Try to have fun with it. Remember, it's not like we're going for an Academy Award. This is just for practice.

Try not to infodump within the action brackets too much. If you want to explain something, the characters should do it, and it should be in a way that doesn't bore the reader too much either.

Also, just try to make the dialogue flow.

But the main tip is: have fun :P

I'm converting a Photo-Comic I'm working on into a script.

It's funny, my teacher's never really liked Urban Sci-fi, but she thought that this one was really original. :D

I might try this. Or might sort of try it... like change the goal to 40 pages and make it a teleplay instead of a screenplay, though that'd remove the challenge since I have already written a 40 page script... Maybe I should try for a 100...

all my ideas would be to similar to other stuff anyway and it wouldn't be nearly as good.

OK I'm in!!! I can't wait! OK so it starts tomorrow, 100 pages, 30 days, so I need to do about 4 a day or 25 pages on the weekends. Well I will do my very very best. Should we wait till the end of April to post our script or post them every so often?

So it is April 3, how are everyones scripts coming? I am like on page 6. But I am doing mine on Word so the pages are kinda long. I may make things a little different but I am not sure yet. Also, what are yours about?

Urk! I hink I may have put my foot into my mouth when I signed up for this. Two massive art projects just came up, as well as a ton of graduation things to do. I'll probably make it up to page 50 only :P

Post whatever you have in the scripts section of the Literature Forum and title it (Username) Script Frenzy or (Title of Script) Script Frenzy and then each time you write more just edit it onto that post. Whenever you edit a large piece onto the post you can bump it if you'd like people to know that it's been updated. :)

Hey guys!
I was looking around at how long normal scripts are and usually if they are half of and 8.5 by 11 they are around 60 and just normal 8.5 by 11 about 30 so having 100 pages may be a little hard to do. Anyone here in favor of shortening the script length?

And Typically...

50 pages is around... 30 minutes, 70 is around an hour. (50 pages are usually 30 minute shows, and 70 is around an hour long show. The average length movie is around like 120 pages to 150 pages.)

Oops. Sorry was a little confused. The actual script frenzy site was down when I tried to get on it. So I am just doing it on Word and not actually submitting it. Yeah, I know that it isn't exactly when this was suppose to be but I will still try to write 100 pages. If I don't get 100, oh well at least I tried.

... I changed my story :) I'll probably change back, but for the mean time, I have a new one now that I will post up and it's a story that I'm having fun with. So far overall, for my script I have around thirty pages. I think I'm almost in the average of the 3.33 pages a day that it's supposed to be :P
