This was the first book I bought on my new Kindle (yay!) on Christmas day. I was looking forward to finishing a trilogy that, so far, had supplied an impressive number of nonstop, page-turning hours. What I got in return for my excitement can only be described as a cold, hard slap to the face.

There are two words to describe this book: EPIC. FAIL.

The first two books were packed with intense action that never fell into the mindlessness that most do. They also had the perfect amount of dialog that both progressed the story and our main character, Katniss, as well as the enormous cast of supporting characters. However, in Mockingjay, Collins seems to have totality ditched those amazing traits and replaced them with both mindless dialog AND mindless action! Whoa!

Personally, I couldn't connect with a single character. However, I definitely agree with Peeta's new view of Katniss: total bitch.

Look, if you really want to read this, go right ahead. It's the last book, of course you will! Just know that to expect anything more than a total waste of time would be expecting too much. I know that you will all hate me for this, and writing a scathing review is never a fun thing to do, but for a disappointment this big, I just couldn't hold it in.

The Hunger Games - Fantasic!
Catching Fire - Could be a little better...
Mockingjay - WTF!?

P.S.
I apologize in advance for not including a plot summary. Trust me, you don't even want to know.

I really liked the first two books as well, but I have to agree with you here, the last one was such a huge let down. It's as if Suzanne Collins though "Hey, I've already written two decent books, people are going to read this one no matter what, so it doesn't matter if it's a pile of rubbish."
It was just so disappointing, and completely destroyed what would otherwise have been a really good trilogy.

Guys, i have to disagree. Personally I adore all three books and they go with me wherever I go. I need them to breathe easy. I don't know how you say the plot sucks. I liked it. She showed how finally after all the years of trouble with the Capitol the good guys won. And even then I wasn't sure if the good guys were really that. The only disappointment was the end. No grand end. No satisfying happy ever after. But I guess you can't have everything. But I kind of get why you guys don't like that last one so much. I had a similar feeling somewhere inside me.

I just finished the first two books of the trilogy, and I'm currently reading Mockingjay. Personally, I hate happily ever afters, so I was looking forward to a tragic ending. Also, I do agree that the third book is boring in a sense. However, I'm not even halfway through, so I wouldn't judge it just yet ;)

I would have to agree that the third book is rather boring. I guess after the action backed arenas the whole stuck underground in a bunker thing wasn't really what you expected for most of the last book.

Well, for me the order of my preference of the book is as it is: Hunger Games, Catching Fire, then last is Mockingjay.

I didn't like Mockingjay at all! I was disappointed at the end, flipping pages to make sure I didn't miss anything... But I saw it coming from the end of the 2nd book.. I mean Katniss should never have let Peeta go if she was so keen to keep him alive! And then she gets mad at Peeta for seeing her for what she trurly is! I really grew to dislike Katniss in this book. It is the one book I would mind hollywood changing! :)

I actually liked Mockingjay a bit even if it was boring. I was hoping they all died or something. Personally Catching Fire was the best one.
