Hey, it's me again. :D

Just a question.

Which country (as the setting of a novel) would you be interested in reading about?

a) Germany
b) Ireland
c) United Kingdom
d) Iceland
e) Netherlands

I like to set my novel in Germany but the other locations seem to work too. Well, I just want your opinion, guys.

I choose U.K. I am fond of Sherlock Holmes. Dark foggy lanes and so on...

Germany or England. One of your options isn't correct because Ireland is in U.K. England must be what you're thinking of. Well, good luck! ^^

Depends on the story. I'd read a book set in any of those places, but it'd depend what it's about.

Also, FayGee - Ireland is a republic and not part of the UK.

Netherlands.

Northern Ireland is part of the UK, but then the rest of Ireland which is the Republic, isn't.

The UK is overdone, and Ireland and Iceland belong to Game of Thrones. I suppose Germany is cool, but I know the least about the Netherlands, which makes me the most curious.

Iceland sounds like the most interesting and original. I dunno.

Well i'd say Germany, but my interest in this country could just be becuase i'm allready writing a novel set there. The Netherlands sounds interesting too though.

Just remember that no matter where you set your story, the counrty shouldn't make that much of a difference...it all comes down to you writing skills and technique at the end of the day.

Iceland.

-------- But if you want Germany, use Germany. I wouldn't turn down a book for being set in Germany and I wouldn't pick it up for being set in Iceland. Use what you like. (You worrying about sales before you've written it?)

Anyway, why I like Iceland: The UK, Ireland, and Germany have been written about (at least their interesting histories) very much, for all their interest. The Netherlands haven't, but I know nothing about them, and the name isn't very interesting, so no draw. I don't know anything about Iceland, either, but I like the name. And Iceland is small. I like that. (You might consider language, too, deciding. The UK and Ireland at least speak English.)

I've been always interested with Denmark, Iceland and Greenland, and thus I will find a novel set in these countries interesting.

Huzzah! Germany is the greatest of them all. We should all write great epics of our marvelous Germany and all it's wonderous beauty. Never before have I seen such wonderful tuna fishes as I have in this great country. Have any of you tried them?

Oops, sorry about that. >< I'm not so good about Geography and stuff. Anyway, thanks for the response!

Yeah, me too, the name interests me. :D

I get your point. Yeah, that's what I like about Iceland, cool name. :D Well, I'm not really worrying about the sales, to be honest. It's not even crossed my mind yet.I just can't decide which location to use, so I thought hearing your opinion could at least help me out. It's so hard to choose!

I know this is not one of your options but, how about Italy ?

Italy is already one of my locations, although it is not the main setting. :D I absolutely love Italy! I can't just leave it. In fact, I've already written most of the scenes that were to happen in Italy.

Well, Italy’s culture is fairly interesting, and it symbolizes “Ancient Glory”. Plus, you can add various descriptions related to the setting if you chose Italy. But again, the setting should basically fit the theme of your story.

Right. :D That's why Italy's not going to be the main setting of my novel, but of course it will appear many times as well. Ohh~ I love Italy.:P

Iceland. I'm interested in the idea of coldness and solitude and how that reflects on a person. I noticed recently that a lot of my favorite books and movies are about cold, stoic people.
