This Vampire Series, by P.C. Cast and her daughter Kirsten Cast is my favorite book series that I've read in my life so far. It's awesome. I love it. I currently own the first 5 books of the series, and I can't wait till 1/4/11 for the 8th book to be released.:D

Thanks . . . but this is not a review.
What's it about?
Why do you like it?
What is good/bad about it?
How is it unlike Twilight?
Why should we read it, too? (not that I will: vampires = yawn)

The house of night series is about vampires, it centered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The main character is named Zoey Redbird, a fledgling vampire, as she starts her new life at the House of night.

I didn't really like the house of night series. It seemed too cliche. (Pretend that there is an accent on cliche) First off, the only real problem Zoey had was the fact that she is a Vampyre, and her arch rival is the incrediably beautiful, mean, stereotypical blond bishie who is out to get her. Then there is the other incrediably beautiful, kind and perfect boy who ditched the previous bishie for Zoey. Then theres Stevie Ray. Please don't get me started on stereotypes concerning cowboys, hillbilly's and Kansas, just, no.
I think it kind of follows the Twilight thing for 'Oh God! I'm lusting for blood, but I must abstain for I am not a monster and I will not hurt humans.' Kind of a boring plot, not much really happens until the end; and the ending doesn't make much sense.
I didn't like the authors writing style because it seemed a bit too informal. I understand that first person view is through the character, but it's too... High school girly. I don't see any of the bigger picture, just the protagonists idea. While I'm on the topic of protagonist, I thought Zoey was rather Mary-Suey. Not only is she a Vamprye, but she's a Vamp with her mark filled in already! Snap!
The book wasn't too bad, it wasn't boring at least. There were a few times where I wanted to throw the book at the wall and scream 'For the love of characterization.' but it wasn't too bad. The concept was interesting enough, and I must say I thought the tat's were cool.
All of the characters struck me as incrediably boring stereotypes. Aphrodite was the popular bishie who was pure evil
Damien was the victimized homosexual best friend
Stevie Ray is a wanna be cowgirl from Kansas
Erik Night. God, prince charming with an dark past and whatnot
Zoey the charming young protagonist with no faults and wants to change things for the better good
...And so forth.
I don't recomend this book. Unless you like laughing at the bad stereotypes.
Just my opinion though, anyone who wants to say otherwise, post.

I only read the first one to be honest and only because I got high recommendations for it, I didn't much care for it, it seemed kind of like Twilight, myself highly disliking it. It was an interesting plot and had great potential, see, I only read the first one. It moved kinda fast, I didn't much care for it, and didn't like the end to the first book.
Not a favorite and I don't think I'll be reading the rest of them.
