View Full Version : Taking Crit Requests

Well, for those of you who haven't been here a while, I'm Alex, a former mod. I've been around for years, but I usually go through spurts of activity and inactivity. I just want to say that, tentatively, I'm back, although I don't know how hectic college life will be so I can't promise full activity like I gave in the past.

I just want to say I'm sorry to Shaun and the rest of the moderation staff for effectively failing at my role, not only by leaving, but by being inconsistent in performing my duties. Even if I had still been around, I probably deserved to be on thin ice.

I was at the edge of burning myself out of writing again when I left, but two unfortunate events and an absurdly busy second semester of senior year (I ended up missing 1/3rd of the days last semester. Whats up with that!? Second semester senior year is supposed to be a joke!? bahhh) gave me an 'out' I suppose, and I really didn't have the incentive to stick with it.

I'm probably not going to write again (haven't in over a year), but I still really enjoy critiquing, and that is partly why I posted this. I want to try and make it up to the site, so if anyone has any poetry and/or realistic fiction you want me to critique, and I mean any (give me time if its really long =p), new member or old, send me a message/PM me/or catch me in the chat box.

Welcome back, Alex. :)

I know you because I checked your profile once, and I know that you are a former mod.

Anyway, I'm Rose, but you could call me Light. ^^

I wanted to ask you to crit my poem, but it seems that you are already critting it... so, thanks in advance. :P

Anything else...?

Good luck. =D

Yep, gave it a critique (helps being the most recent thing in the member's only poetry section). Desperately wanted to avoid the old monotonous task of completely retooling bad teenage angst poetry, and I'm happy with what was there.

At least I know someone checked my profile once while I was gone *cries in joy*. As an aside, Jesus Christ, I don't think I've been gone long enough for people to have amassed over 500 posts. I'm jealous.

Hahaha. I checked it more than once actually; maybe three times or so, but who's countin'... xD

I'm number one on the top posters list. :P

Yup, I iz an active poster.

I think that there are some recent short stories that haven't been critted yet in case you are interested. :)

Yeah, I'll probably take a look into the Realistic Short Story section next, but my true love has always been poetry. Its the most practical too, you see how I critique, I tend to ramble and point out any minor thing, and I carry the same style over to prose, and it makes critiquing even moderate-length pieces very very tedious. I'll do requests over anything, though, so if you have anything you want me to do, I'll check it out.

Ahh same. It takes me days if I do prose. Unfortunately, I don't have the genius required to do poetry. *Glares jealously*
Yeah... I don't actually want a crit, seeing as I'm not currently writing... I'm just rather bored, and this sounded interesting.
Also, you're in NC. I'm in SC...

I'm leaving now, honest.

Alex... I remember you:) You probably don't recall me, but you were by far the best crit on the site when I started. Whats up love?

Your poetry is still in my signature. In case you didn't know.

I don't think I can request a crit, since my novel is, as always, fantasy.

Thanks everyone, its good to see some familiar faces.

Well, I'm not in NC QUITE yet, going to be driving up next week, but am too lazy to change it later on, so I just got it over with.

I see that Carr, I like to think your sig is the last memory of me still around. Good to see you representing =p.

It's not big deal, man. You didn't stab me in the back, and you're being honest about your situation. I'm not mad or anything. Just come on back, do some good work, help people become better writers and critters, and all will be well with the universe.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything for you to critique :P.

Well, Shaun, if thats all I have to do then we may be in business =p. Still, I feel bad, thanks for not taking it the wrong way. It was irresponsible for me not to notify you when I was convinced of a longer leave of absence.

What is with you people, I've only gotten one request!? I realize realistic fiction is about as popular as Roleplays on this site, but feed me something. You wouldn't want someone you just met to starve, would you?

Shaun

Yes, it was irresponsible of you not to at least PM me about it, but I don't generally hold grudges unless you do something really awful. You know, like stabbing me in the back...

You didn't do that, so we're good. Just be a better person from now on or I'll beat you up with my brain powers.

Fair enough, consider it done =]. I'm not one to take a beating
