I'm not entirely sure if this goes here but I really need some help.
I'm writing a story and I have a question for all of you
Is there anything in your house that drives you crazy?

The voices...
But seriously, probably the people in the house

Wow, you asked for it . . . here comes the rant:
Oddly enough, the noises in my house annoy me a lot too . . . though I don't hear voices. :P Creaks and groans, random odd noises that move places. The streetlight outside my window, too. >.< Also, my kitchen is tiny. TINY. Every single one of the stairs in my house creaks, so every sneak-out fails. :( The electrics suck, the plumbing is apparantly so old it's illegal, there's no insulation, the double glazing on my bedroom window is blown and it permanently condensated, the garden is meh, we're not allowed to redecorate anything, the lounge has no 'centre-point' and my brother's room had a huge box over where the stairs are that makes his room evern smaller than it already is, and the loft is a death-trap for Harry Potter books. The sofa is always at a weird angle to the TV (that doesn't work) so you get a sore next when watching a DVD or something, and I have no room for a second bookshelf.
/endsbigfatrant
My new house though . . . is wonderful, or will be when we actually move. >.> It has an open fireplace and everything my current house doesn't. Only problems are the weird garden and that my room is magenta pink. >.< But we are allowed to redecorate, thank heaven. ^^

...Oh my cheese. That just made my day. xD Good thing you're moving before you began contemplating leaking gasoline all over the place and dropping a lit match on the trail.
I was just going to say one thing that's annoying, which is that the lock on my bedroom door isn't really a lock -- as in, all you need to jiggle it is a penny or a really long fingernail. *scowls*
Also, the bathroom is right between my bedroom and my sister's room, so...yeah. The only really nice place in our house is the backyard, which has a little nook between the trees.

*Glomps Iri* There's a lot more I could moan about there but I thought that was enough for one sitting. I could write a book about the failings of my current house. Haha, the landlord is NEVER EVER going to sell it for the price he's asking. I can't wait to moooooooove. :D
You have trees in your garden? I'd like to have a treehouse in my garden one day . . . for my *future* kids, or just to keep my inner child happy. xD

My window - because I can't take out the screen so I could sneak out.
My door - because it's too squeaky and would wake up my parents when I want to sneak out.
The back door - because it's too squeaky and would wake up my parents when I want to sneak out.
The front door - because it makes a HECK of a lot of noise when I want to sneak out.
Anything else?
Oh, yeah.
My parents - because it's the reason I have to be quiet in order to sneak out.

The fact that my computer is right next to other people's computers and the xbox and the kitchen. No doors. I have to do private things when nobody is around

Okay, I've never heard of anyone asking a question like that before here, but here goes... xD
I absolutely despise the blasted mini-fridge that's right, LITERALLY right next to the computer chair. It hums twenty four seven and is annoying as hell when you're thinking. It's so close to the chair that, if someone needs to get by to the kitchen, you have to push the chair halfway across the room for them to get through. I can't stand that all the clocks in the house can never be synchronized exactly, as I've tried and failed on many different attempts (I try this a lot, as I'm VERY anal about clocks being correct.) The top of our computer cabinet, where we keep the bread, becomes a black hole for food, which we end up finding mostly as mold in a bag whenever we forget that there's bread up there (doesn't happen that much, but there's a bunch of old papers up there too and for some reason- X-rays.... No clue who they belong to, but they're someone's). Almost every doorframe in the house is swelled because of the moisture, so you end up having to slam your body weight against the door to get it closed, as if you're body slamming the door at a rock concert. I hate that I can never arrange my room furniture without realizing how absolutely tiny the room is, or the fact that I'm still growing and have out grown my bed, where my feet hang off the mattress on the floor (We've already had to remove the frame and put the mattress and box spring on the floor because of how tall I am, but now I've grown... AGAIN.). Our sofa is the same way- after having it for about a decade, the center is bowed from years of various people sitting in the center, making the sofa a U where anyone sitting on one end ends up sliding down towards the center. Our ventilation system was apparently installed wrong, so the AC cooked us last time we switched it on and the heat never quite makes the upstairs comfortable- either the arctic or the Sahara. Our kitchen is entirely too small, which is only more apparent when my father dumps mail and old newspapers over the counter, advertising things that we don't even need. And, the walls are the unknown... as when the house was remodeled (when I was young), I played with some toys and haven't been able to find them since, and for some reason I remember some of them going into loose holes in the old drywall, where they reside in the walls. xD (I was smart kid when I was around five. :P) Other than that, not much- just the fact that our lineolium floors become sheets of ice in the winter due to there being no insulation in the floor (We obviously did not hire pros to help re-moldel our house. xD).
So, you asked, and there is it: a prime example for why homes that were originally farmhouses from 1921 can never survive in the modern world with a family full of tall people like me.
Wow, Will, haha. That's one hell of an answer.
Okay, here's my answer to your question:
- The fact that I share one room with my sister and my brother mocks me a lot. It's because, I'm 15 and I don't have my own room. (We're going to solve this problem soon, hopefully. But right now, it still bothers me).
- In our room, there is no space for us to put our stuff. That's due to the books. Books everywhere I go. School books, papers, exam sheets, cabinets and book shelves are stuffed with books and papers which leaves no room for new books.
- My drawing pads, notebooks, coloring pencils, ect, ect. are scattered all over the place. And this drives me crazy because most of the times I lose my stuff and spend days searching for them.
- I spend my day sitting in the saloon because my brother takes the room all to himself during the day. (He would be using the computer, playing PS2, and watching TV, all at the same time. >.<)
- My sister is 5 years old. Kids at this age love to draw. (Well, at least my sister does.) So it bothers me a lot when she takes my paints or coloring pens and pencils without permission. I also have the same problem with my brother; he takes my stuff without permission most of the time but, (and there is a but here) he doesn't let me come anywhere near his closet or stuff.
I'm sure I missed some things. Anyway, hope this answers your question. xD
Odd question to ask in a writing forum, but oh well.
My apartment is generally quite tolerable, except for the fact that my computer is right next to the window that seems to have a permanent draft--in SUMMER I feel a random breeze making me shiver even though the window's closed, the heater's on, and I'm wearing a sweater.
My patio door is one of those sliding glass doors that looks really nice, but lately it's been having problems locking. I am incredibly paranoid when I go to bed at night--one time I DID lock it, I checked it and it stayed locked, and later when my dog woke me up because she had to pee, I OPENED THE DOOR WITHOUT NEEDING TO UNLOCK IT. Also if it doesn't get oiled regularly it makes this horrible, grating, engine-failure noise that makes my teeth itch. I hate that fucking noise.
The avocado tree is one of those "lose eighty gazillion leaves every month even if it's not fall," so we always to clean it up. Where does it GET all those leaves?

Haha, Rose, I had quite a bit more, but you get the picture. xD
I'd hate it if I was in a situation like yours where you have the young ones taking everything, you know? *hugs Rose*

YES. THEY DO. I also have a five year old sister. She draws, alright. She draws on:
walls
bedsheets
the toilet cover
my homework
her body
MY body
Me: "What [the fuck] are you doing, Emma!?"
Emma: "Making a princess!"
Me: "On my THIGH!? With a MARKER?"
*facepalm*

She draws on papers mostly but she loves to draw some "tattoos" on my back/shoulder with a red marker, or use a black pen to draw a pretty girl on my ankle then color it with makeup. xD
