Hi all. I'm new to YWO, but not to the vBulletin stuff since I've got accounts on two other sites that look a lot like this. Looking forward to reading some of the posts and critiques and getting a grasp of things here before I try anything myself.

I do have a general question though. How would you guys say this site is for preserving stories?

I have to use one of 14 work computers (usually a different one each time) so saving files is kinda not happening for me there, but I plan on writing a story that will take more than one sit-down-and-write-session. Just if I could save it in a personal blog or something on the site that I could make public when I was done would be perfect. I would do it on one of the other two sites but they aren't really appropriate, this one seemed perfect. Or alternatively if you guys know anything else that would be cool too. Oh, and I won't take off if the answer is "No." or anything.

Thanks again.

Hi Soft Serve, and welcome to :ywo:! I hope you will enjoy this lovely website above all others, which is a probability. ^^ So what other sites have you been on? TW?
If you haven't yet, make sure to check out the Critique Guidelines (http://www.youngwritersonline.net/critiques.php) and the Rules (http://www.youngwritersonline.net/rules.php), they'll help a lot.
I am not exactly sure about your question. You should ask a mod, like Bowie20049, they know everything about the site and can help you out. Sorry I can't!
So what genres do you like to read and write?
Again, welcome to the site!

Don't know TW. But the other vBulletin sites are penandpapergames for nerdy D&D players like myself (NO SHAME!)

And suicideforum which is supposed to help people coping with hard times. I wasn't suicidal but I wanted someone to talk too, went, got better, stuck around to help other people out. Still check in both of those when I can and this looks like another vBulletin I won't mind adding to that collection. :D

I'm in love with Horror writing right now. H.P. Lovecraft is flipping my world and he has been for a few months. So that's what I'm reading, writing is a blur. I have a bunch of ideas but nowhere to sit and start working on them. Hoping I can find some focus in a community. (This one to be more precise...)

I'll give those links a look, thanks Toaster!

Heya, welcome to the site. :)

If you like Lovecraft, you will get on very well with Draxzar who also loves his work.

We have a good and friendly community here, and there are lots of social groups and stuff you can join to mee like-minded people, so I'm sure you'll fit right in because we're awesome like that and newbs are cool. ^^

I think this site is fine for keeping work, but an alternative option is Google Docs. It's meant for sharing documents with people over the internet, but it can easily be used with yourself. 'Tis what I use for all of my homework when I need to switch computers. A third option would be emailing the file to yourself every time you edit it, but that gets really annoying.

Oh yeah, and, welcome to YWO. :)

I forgot about google docs...I've actually used that before for pdf storage.

Thanks all!

Hey Soft Serve,
We don't currently have a feature for saving files at this moment, but we will have a draft feature for stories and critiques in the future. For now, check out Google Docs, which is free and lets you keep stuff online to do with as you please. Eventually we'll have a draft feature, though.

And welcome to the site, by the way. Nice to have new folks around here.
