Hello...
I just thought I'd join this fine looking forum....
y'see... when I was young and had no sense I used to write stories. Anyway then I became a musician and that has ruled my life for the last few years.
It still does rule my life, but I have decided to revisit my old hobby... and figured joining a group like this one would maybe be helpful =D
So... what im trying to say is ...
hi :)

Welcome, of course.
Well, you know, song lyrics are a form of writing, so if that's something you do you should have no problems finding a lot of critiquing help around here :). And I'm sure we can do what we can to help you out with your regular writing too :P.
Enjoy your stay!
Night Elf - is that from Warcraft, or of some other origin?
Anyway, Welcome! Do you have a shorter name we can call you by? ;)

Lol, yeh I expect I will... I've always liked writing, I just haven't written in a while (except for lyrics)..... this seems like a pretty cool community anyway.

VVelcome!
I gave myself the name Carraka for the pure purpose of joining the writing community, and now it's kinda stuck.
But it's not about me. It's about you! What instrument do you play?

In order of what im best at ... starting from the best to worst...
Trumpet, Keyboard/Synth, Piano, Singing, Guitar.
I've played a lot of jazz and classical on trumpet, but in the last year or so I've began singing/keyboarding rock music (think Deep Purple)
Awesome, I wish I was talented in music:P
Anyways, welcome, good to have you here:D

What kind of music are you into? Cause if you sing that'd just be swell.
Welcom to YWO.

Awesome. :D I'd love to hear some of your songs.
However, those bands that you like, I don't like. Some of Guns N' Roses' songs are good, but the rest just don't play well with me. I'm more into Nu-metal stuff. :)

im much the same with guns n roses... the good ones are awesome but some of them suck. But i like them enough to fit them into that category.
I find a lot of those bands -- particuarly Queen and Deep Purple -- had some incredibly good songs that absoloutely nobody knows about .... its always "We Will Rock You", "Another One Bites The Dust", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Smoke On The Water", "Highway Star"..
... you know .... radio friendly stuff?
"March Of The Black Queen" is the most under-rated song in the universe (you still might hate it, but its a pet peeve of mine that good songs are ignored just cos they dont fit into the radios idea of good music)
*sigh*
ja, must let you hear one of my songs at some point ..
my last band recently died because the guitarists were more interested in being pop stars than musicians (a real pity cos they were EXCELLENT guitarists), but ive been doing stuff on my own and with friends recently ...

We will rock you and Another one bites the dust are good songs. But it's rare that I like songs like that.

Oh they're good songs, no denying but ..
The best Queen songs for instance are "March Of The Black Queen", "Ogre Battle", "Bijou", "Jesus", etc....
how often do you hear THEM on the radio?

My favorite Queen song is "The Seven Seas of Rhye" though I also like "The Game," "Monday Morning (I think that's what it calls it's like 'I go to work on monday morning')," and "Bicycle Race."
Welcome to YWO, by the way!

uhh Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon you mean? =D
A seriously overlooked if slightly comical song ..
Seven Seas of Rhye is awesome... and the piano part is blissfully easy, which makes up for the Millionares Waltz... *smashes up keyboard in frustration*

Ah..welcome, newbie!
Just a few tips before you start:
1) Have fun! :D
2) Be active
3) Be courteous
4) This is a writing website. While there is no way to forbid slang, using them too much might result in being steamrolled by Imelda (the grammar goddess) or by my Jaguars.
Oh well, enjoy your stay! ^^
(And as for the rest of you guys, I'm not totally back yet...)
Omg Raffs Back
How about Wishing Well from Sabbath. Back in the day that song got alot of pub, but now? nahh its all War Pigs and Crazy Train, yes they are very good songs, but I can't see how Wishing Well doesn't get grouped in the same respect as these.
I used to be real big into Guns N' Roses, but they've lost a good lot of their luster to me.
Queen's Jesus was nice, and out of that list I thought it was the only one quite as good as Bohemian Rhapsody. Another Bites The Dust is ok but overplayed, I agree. Good to see someone with good taste in music on here though ahah

Yeah thats true man... Wishing Well was a seriously over-looked song. I liked War Pigs and Crazy Train but Wishing Well (and a lot of the Dio-era stuff for that matter) is over-looked... This will perhaps make me unpopular but I liked a lot of the stuff from Born Again as well.. but maybe thats just cos I love Deep Purple and Black Sabbath so the two together is like a giant metal orgasm.
*sigh*
I agree about Guns N' Roses... I prefer their old stuff. Axl Rose became a bit of an ass..
