So I was wondering: what do you think the next big thing will be? After all, the vampire trend can’t last forever (thank God).
I predict that angels are going to be the "new vampires". I’ve noticed a few relatively recent books about them: Fallen, Eternal, Hush, Hush and Angel Time are just a few off of the top of my head. And angels are immortal; beautiful; and when they're fallen, gothic. Sound familiar? :P
If I’m right, it’ll be a nice change, but I suspect it’ll get annoying very quickly.
But what do you think? And it doesn’t necessarily have to pertain to YA fantasy. Any genre will do. Or, if you have no idea :P, what would you like to see more of?

I don't know, I've seen a lot of angel/demon books, but considering all the mafia romances on quizilla...it's very possible that it might spring up. The only reason I say this is because vampire romances were on quizilla before they became super popular. ^^; So it seems like a trend starting from that point...>.>

supernatural creatures are getting old, unless someone brings back fairies, and I will be totally in on that shit. I love fairies.
I'm feeling some mafia romance, good thought mercy

Me!
Jay kay. I dunno. I think vampires won't die out for a long time, not until Stephanie doesn't milk all the money she can make. Then all the girls will be in withdrawal, and probably latch onto some pseudo-YA-magical realism/romantic book.
We're doomed.

All those angel stories are nothing more but money hogs jumping on the TWILIGHT ban wagon, but trying to pass themselves as "original" by giving their Adonios's wings instead of fangs.
I don't know what will be the "next big thing." A new science fiction craze would be nice. But the good stuff, no Star Trek.
To be honest, as long as it isn't incredibly stupid and is beneficial in some way for the current "hip" generation, I don't care.
Post Scriptum: I just searched "Fallen" on wikipedia. All I can say is...FOR F*CK SAKE!

SF Strange is going to be similar to the New Weird where it appears before and after it's peak, but it'll burn bright and fast coming up here soon. Then I suspect a return to true Hard SF and Epic Fantasy. Back to basics.
