View Full Version : SBS Needs a Co-editor

I'm not sure where my current co-editor has gone, and I really need an extra person to fill the gaps of my own knowledge while selecting work for publication.
Here is the job description:
--Read/view fiction, poetry, non-fiction, and artwork submitted to the magazine.
--Offer an opinion on that work. Should it be published? Should it not? Why doesn't it work for you? Things like that.
--Must have a fairly high standard (we don't let everything in for a reason); this might mean being somewhat brutal.
--Must be willing to dedicate a significant amount of time to reading manuscripts (at least a few hours a week).
--Must have knowledge of poetry (my own knowledge is woefully inadequate, which is why I need a co-editor who can help me deal with poetry)
--Must be interested in Steampunk (being a fan or having read Steampunk before is a plus, but not necessarily required; good stories are good stories--the same is true of poetry).
Anyone may apply for the position, but it does come with some drawbacks:
--Unless you have already submitted a piece and it has been accepted, you cannot submit anything else to SBS during your time as co-editor for the magazine.
--It does require some time on your part and for you to be fairly punctual. I want to have acceptances or rejections sent out within two weeks of submission. Submissions generally aren't as frequent as you see with much larger magazines, so this is a very doable timetable.
If you are interested, please let me know in this thread why you want to do it and why you think you would be a good candidate for the job. Your name would be in the magazine as co-editor. Currently the position is only for the above jobs, but if you are interested in participating in other elements of the magazine (formatting, design, and so on), you're welcome to.
And that's enough from me.

I would apply, but I don't meet the last two required factors. How regrettable, eh, Shaunwise?

I'm interested. I like reading stuff, can be brutal, and I know poetry, for the most part. Do I need to say anything else?
