Hi, I just joined. Seem to be getting the hang of things. My name is Shane, although my handle on here is "Surt". Its norse meaning "black" after a fire giant in norse mythology that consumed the world with fire and so on :D

Are you sure that is norse for black? I did some research out of curiosity and found that in old norse black is either blar (w/ a ' above the a), blakkr, or svartr.

Svatar turned into Surt via the same usual way English corrupts words. It's a Norse-English thing. Fenrir is Fenris. Jormugandr is the Midgard Serpent. Stuff like that.
