Hello, all. I'm new to the site and expect to be posting some rough drafts soon. I mostly write humour in short story format. Is there anything I should know besides what is outlined in the FAQs and rules?

You read the rules? That's a nice change. So since you've already looked around the FAQs and rules, I think you're good for now. If you have any questions, do feel free to ask. And also, you should click on the links in my signature. Not that they'll help your writing, but... Shaun wants more votes, and the other one is cool because it's actually two links, and I drew the picture in the first one.
And, of course, welcome to YWO.
Hello and welcome to YWO, I see you already read the FAQ & Rules... This is a good start. Anyways, there are also the Critique Guidelines (http://www.youngwritersonline.net/critiques.php), in case you haven't checked them out yet.You write humour short stories, I am interested, I hope you post some of your work soon. :) By the way, I like your signature dude. ;)
One more thing, have fun and don't get into trouble. :P Kidding, we are all friendly here. ^^
Welcome. Good to hear you read the FAQ and rules.
Hmm, we don't have many comedy writers (as far as I know), I'm interested in looking at some of your work when you post. But first, you need to critique, critique, critique.
PM me if you have any questions or you want to chat...
Be good. Be nice. Follow the rules. ;)

Welcome to YWO! Can't wait to see your work -- I'm really in need of a good laugh. Constantly...
Remember to crit lots, and just PM/VM someone (ME!!) if you have a question or help of any kind.
(Dangnammit, Alice. You got here before me, :P)

Welcome indeed!
There are a few more things you can do, if you're up for it. I'll list them in order of importance (to me):
--Buy a copy of Survival By Storytelling Magazine. Look in my sig. It's there. I recommend going to the main webpage, though, and clicking the link for The Book Depository, because it's cheaper there.
--Submit to Survival By Storytelling Magazine. Why? Because we're reading for a steampunk issue, it's a YWO-based mag, and you can get published and paid for your work. Cool? I think so!
--Sign up for the Writing Olympics! Go to the main page and scroll down just slightly. There's a forum section there for the Olympics and a thread for signing up (and threads telling you when the events are taking place and what not).
--Poke around in the lit sections to get a good idea of the kinds of critiques that are acceptable here. I recommend looking up Spacepirate in the members list and looking for some of his crits. There are, of course, loads of other great critters here, but it's a good place to start to see what is expected of you (i.e. good crits in exchange for good crits).
Other than that, just enjoy yourself on the site! Seriously. Have fun. Write. And that's all I have for you.

CONGRATULATIONS! You're one of the first newbies to read all the rules and such. Good job! Well, another thing you might want to read are the critique guidelines. Um...I guess that's all I have to say. Well, welcome and I hope you enjoy it here. If you ever have any other questions or whatnot, feel free to ask.
