Pay Rate Increase!

A quick note from the blog:
We've decided to make some changes to our pay rates at Survival By Storytelling. All accepted submissions will be paid a $5 token payment and royalties (accrued after earn out, meaning that when we've earned that $5 back, you start getting royalties). We've done this because we think authors deserve to get more up front for their work. Yes, we realize that $5 is not a lot of money, but it's better than nothing! Hopefully we'll be able to increase those rates significantly in the future.

The official submission guidelines now reads as follows:
Contributors will receive a token payment of $5 as an "advance," along with royalties earned from 3/4 of the profits of every issue; what this means is that you get $5 and when that $5 earns out from sales, you will begin earning royalties from future sales. The last 1/4 of all royalties goes right back to YWO to pay for hosting and other things. Payment will be made via Paypal (done quarterly after publication). You may choose not to receive payment and can instead tell us what to do with your share of the royalties.

Wait let me get this straight. You get 5 dollars, and if so-and-so magazines sell, you get 5 more?

You get $5. When that earns out, you get a percentage of the profits earned from each sale.

What if you live in a country that doesn't operate in dollars? Do you have to go to America to spend them? Or do you get the equivalent amount in your own currency?

SBS closed so I don't think this'll be that much of a problem anymore. Also, I think the payment was through Paypal, so it wouldn't have been much of a problem.
