Greetings. My name is Morris, and it's good to find a community of young writers such as myself.

I am a 22-year old aspiring novelist born in New York and raised in Rhode Island. I currently reside in Georgia, and I am soon to relocate to Texas. It's quite the quest I am having.

I love to write, surf the web, and play video games, particulary roleplaying ones, such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean, and of course, Tales of. I've always wanted to develop my own roleplaying games, but just recently I've decided I wanted to express my imagination and stories through creative writing.

My birthday was March 4th, just last Thursday. It reminded me of how young I still was, and how old I was getting. This realization sparked me to search for novelists around my age, and discovered young authors such as Catherine Webb (who goes under the pseudonym "Kate Griffin") and Andy R. Marshall (who I believe is the same writer that adminstrates this site).

Fantasy is my style, "spiritual fantasy" to narrow it down. I like to implement spirituality into my stories. I feel that my novels can teach more than just the lessons of life. I am currently in the process of writing my first novel, a young adult fantasy.

I am quite positive that this forum will be a great hub for networking with people who have the same desire as me. Friends are always a plus. Thanks for reading.

Welcome to YWO then.
I agree with you on the great enjoyment of those roleplaying games. Kingdom Hearts is defintely one of my favorites, though I generally prefer to let people go through playing the games themselves and I enjoy paying particular attention to the plot then working with them on the puzzling parts. Happy Late birthday by the way. And I'm really looking forward to your spiritual fantasy. It sounds particularly interesting. Enjoy the site.

I recently wrote a novel about spirit guides. I don't think it really fits into the category of "spiritual fantasy", though. Can you give us any hint what your novel is about? Anyway, welcome to YWO!

Tenebie! :D

"It is Tenebrae, The Centurion of Darkness". Haha. I really love this character.

I really appreciate the warm welcome, you all.

As far as my novel:

The story takes place inside a compendium of short stories written by a woman and her husband and son who both had died in a car accident. The protagonist (Anjelius) is a minor character of one of the stories in the compendium, and he is told by a mysterious man that the other stories are being derailed and amalgamated, causing them all to suffer and lose balance. Anjelius is asked by the man to set out on an expedition to help restore them, although he feels too inadequate to do so since he is merely a character only mentioned once in the story of his origin.

Furthermore, the widowed writer discovers the compendium being altered, and she attempts to restore it herself, which causes obstacles in Anjelius' journey as she replaces pages. The writer is still mourning the death of her husband and son, so when she sees the stories change before her very eyes, she believes she is losing her mind, so she often makes mistakes trying to put them back together again.

I can't say much more than this, but that is the summary of the story. In other words, the story has two perspectives, Anjelius (inside the compendium) and Elandus (outside the compendium, the real world). The real world is present-day Providence, Rhode Island.

Welcome! I like RPGs too, but I prefer to watch someone playing them. I'm just too lazy to do all the training :)

Hope you have a good time here!

I could understand that. It's because of RPGs that I gained an interest in literature, so I have always been a gamer, but I mostly play for a fascinating story rather than gameplay. Thank you. :)

Ha, another one that's my age!
Interesting past you have there, I also have always been pulled to RPG games due to their stories, I pretty much played/liked most or all of the ones you mentioned. I wanted to make RPG games when I was younger but decided to just write stories, and I'm glad about that because now that I'm studying computer science at my university, well... game making isn't half as easy as it sounds. ;)

Thanks again. Writing a novel is truly a hassle, but the finished product will pay off . All it really takes is patience. If you have the imagination and decent writing techniques, everything should fall in place. I keep telling myself that and it gives me a boost. :D

Patience and practice is what I think. Patience because sometimes it can get frustrating, and practice because the ending is harder than it looks. For me, anyway. I've finished a few novels, and each time the ending gets easier.

Practice makes perfect in everything. I agree. Are any of your novels published? I wouldn't mind reading one or two.

And thanks so much again, Rose. :)

I'm a dancer, too, and it's so true in that also.
No. I wish. But eventually something will be (think positive!). Except for one (and that one from when I was sixteen, so's not the greatest), the others were finished all pretty recently, so I'm in the process of editing. But one is posted around here up to chapter seven, and I posted the first bit of my second to last.

Oh yeah? That's interesting, and something I would definitely like to read.

Also (my real reason for posting here): Happy belated birthday

Thank you both.

And yes, it is just something I cooked up and decided to flow with it.

I'll be publishing the manuscript when I am complete, and I, of course, will share it here once it is published.

Just FYI make sure to post it under the members only section, ok? Becuase you run the risk of it getting stolen by some random person otherwise. :)

I'll keep that in mind, although it will be a published and copyrighted documentation when I am able to share it publicly. ^___^
