View Full Version : Winter Break!
So what is everyone doing this winterbreak? Any special plans or such? :) I thought this thread was really necessary for us to brag about our vacations or to just talk about what we usually do in winterbreak:P

I'm reading and trying hard to write and working on a collaborative writing project with Imelda.
I'm also going to continue looking for a new place to live.
Umm...yeah. I have about 8 books to read in the next 7 days :S. It's not going to happen as fast as I would like, but so be it :P.
:S! Good luck Shaun!
I am going to a ski resort for one week! For the rest of the days I guess I'll catch up on reading, writing and some boxing day shopping:D

Can I come hang out with you for Christmas? :P. I want to go skiing :D.

Of course you...can can't:P
You ski too? Most my friends snowboard...which gets really annoying:cool:

Honestly, I'm not much of a skier. I don't mind skiing. I liked snowboarding a lot when I tried it. I can figure out how to ski, but I'm not amazing at it and I don't go really fast, but I really like being on the snow and going downhill back and forth. It's a lot of fun. I know how to ski a lot better than snowboard because I've done it more in my life. I've only snowboarded twice and it was really hard because the hill I was on was practically iced over, which is not a good way to learn a new method of travel :P.
I dunno, I'd love to ski again, but not seriously, just for fun. I don't ever want to be one of those fast skiers. Going nice and slow and enjoying the trip is all I need :).

I'm not a fast skier, but I can ski fast:P I go skiing almost three times a week during winter but I only learned it two years ago. It's tons of fun, one of my fav. sports.

My problem is that I either live really near the mountains but have nobody who will take me (especially when I was a lot younger...I used to live within an hour of the slopes, but never had anyone who would take me up :( ), or I just don't live near them at all, such as now (it's about a 5 hour drive if the snow isn't bad). Maybe when I'm older, married, and living in Camden, Maine I'll go skiing again. I'm falling in love with that little town now. It's really pretty. It's either Maine or Northwest Washington...California is just too fricken expensive for me.

Maine is really cool. Wow it must've sucked to live that close to a mountain and not be able to go!
I live about a 15min drive from the closest mountain and a 30min one from another.:D

I've never been to the east coast, but I've always liked Maine for some reason. If I can live there one day I will. Canada is gorgeous too, but I don't think I could swing moving there. It's got to be a difficult process to get residency in other countries. Then maybe not. I want to be a teacher, so perhaps I could get a job in Canada...hmm. I have quite a few options with the whole teaching thing. I'm considering going to Japan to teach English for a year. You don't need much of an education for that, but having an education will really help me and give me valuable experience...and money...and I'll be in Japan, which is a place I want to visit!

I've always wanted to visit Japan too. It's a school trip in the HighSchool I'm going to so I can't wait till I get to go there. And teaching in Canada would be cool, you should definately think about it.

Yeah, I'm considering teaching in another country. I really want to deal with science fiction/fantasy literature, so I need to find a place I can do that from. I don't want to have to teach a whole lot of stupid classed about regular lit...

I'm busy doing nothing this holiday. :D
Actually, I'm learning Java, working on the collaborative project with Shaun, and trying not to throw up. :)

Man, you guys should really get into skiing better. It's the most adrenaline-pumping sport I've ever done, besides kayaking (yes, in case you haven't noticed, I love adrenaline-pumping things :D). Skiing down mountains in Austria with my school was one of the best times of my life. I just did some snowboarding recently and I really like that. But skiing's faster, seeing as you don't have to do the annoying lacing-up with the boots thing.
Anyway, I won't be doing much. I'll be doing homework for these last two weeks of winter holidays, as I've got loads of Geography coursework to do which is in as soon as I get back and also my English Language assigment, Drama assignment and my Biology assignment. So, yeah, it'll be a pretty fun holiday. :D

Well I'd like to go skiing more but a) I don't have the money for it, and b) the mountains are far away...

There's a ski slope in Sheffield! I'll take you to it in March. :) You can catch me as I repeatedly trip over myself. :groovy:

Aw, homework. I have to get to that too...I was trying to convince myself that I could magically forget it till the last day...:glare:

This is weird, Imelda. I used to go skiing with school there a few weeks back and on the last day, we had a woman instructor (we have like a different instructor every week but barely any of them are women) and we went outside and I saw her and I thought "Holy crap, it's Imelda!", 'cos she really did look like you. :D It wasn't though, but she had kind of the same personality as you, anyway. :P

Wow! I hope she still works there in March. :D Then I can go  and be amazed.
I've never been skiing in my life, though, so I can guarantee it wasn't me.

I hope she doesn't work there in March because if you two get mixed up I might freak out and not know who is who. And we can go up there when I visit, that would be cool :).

You two should do the half pipe and ramps together. That'd be a lot of fun for you. :D
