View Full Version : Books and Font Sizes: Big or small?

So, when you read a book, do you like books with large print size, or small print size, or in the middle? Why?
Personally, I cannot stand small print sizes for two reasons:
1. Small print strains my eyes. I'm not old or blind, but it still hurts after a while.
2. I hate reading for an hour and looking at how much I read and realizing I've barely dented the book. Small print does this to me and it's irritating. I like feeling like I've accomplished something in my reading time.
I also don't like really large print though. You know, the size used for books for little kids. So I'm sort of a middle man.

Small print size. Print in the middle is good also.
Eh, I've never thought about it that much. But generally when I've been reading for an hour and only gone through 60 pages, I either conclude that the book is above my reading level or so interesting that I'm not subconsciously skipping paragraphs.
Also, if I could personalize my font for every post on here, I would probably make it
like this, because I really like how the font looks at this size.

I'm same as Shaun, really, I'm sort of middle. I could read something as small as like the Lord of the Rings books, but not much smaller than that.

I really really hate small print in large books like hardbacks and 6x9s. It drives me nuts because I can spend a couple minutes on one page....grrr

I don't see why it's bad to spend a couple minutes on one page. Save paper! Wooo!
Heh heh.

I'm a Middle Man too! :D
See, I told you guys little things can influence the reader about the book: Font Size, The Book's Texture, Text Font, Front Cover, blablabla...

Well, I'll read a book regardless of font size, but it's just a little annoying. If a book is good I'll read it.

Yeah, I know that the Plot counts the most, etc. I'm just saying that its the little things that perfect the book, or so to say...:D
Yea middle font I guess. I don't have anything against small print though I would if it was very tiny. I can't stand large font though, it makes me feel like I'm reading a picture book....

Well, I just received 4 books that I won and all of them have tiny font and some of them are well over 800 pages long...so I'm not really excited about small fonts right now :P.
