Ok, who uses Linux? I'm trying to install it on a virtual machine, and apart from the fact that I can't get the machine to recognise the mouse, all it's showing is a blank cream screen, and a pointer. What's a Linux desktop supposed to look like? Are there any keyboard controls to get menus or whatever up? Help would be much appreciated. :D
(I'm trying Ubuntu, btw)
Try using a different mouse, or put the VPC on a different computer and see what happens. You can change the mouse driver on your host OS.
Try checking your xorg.conf file inside Ubuntu. (Scroll down to the Input Device section). Look to see if you have one with the Identifier of Configured Mouse.

Thanks, Eve. :D I tried a different mouse, it's an issue with the setup of the VPC and it not wanting to accept a mouse plugged in outside it without having the machine updated ... which you can't do without an operating system, the internet, and a mouse. :p
As for the jsfajreds./conf file, well as I said I can only get a cream screen up, so I haven't been able to look at it yet.
But after all that, I installed different VMware, downloaded an image of a working ubuntu system and installed that and it seems to be fine. :D Yay! Now I just need to figure out how to work the Java development thingy ...
*Goes to bug Andrew*
Here, this link (http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/LinuxTutorialJava.html)might help. :D
