So I know that this place is maybe to speak of the books you like, but in this case, it's an exception.

Am I the only person who doesn't like The Night World books, and countless other works of hers?

The protagonist is ALWAYS a Mary-Sue. The characters absolutely 'beautiful' appearance is described within the first couple of pages into the book. And yet people call her works 'original'.

She's no better than Stephenie Meyer.

I'm sorry if I sound like I'm ranting (I probably am) but I just want to hear your opinions. So, what do you think?

Book reviews can be about books you don't like. So feel free to rant.

Thanks, Bowie. :D

So continuing my rant... :D

Yeah, her characters are all Mary-Sue's, and no, I'm not exaggerating. You can all go check it out for yourselves.

I admit, the plot can sometimes be good, but the books go on and on and on, sort of like a television series.

But the girl who I hated most had to be Elena, from the Vampire Diaries.

God, she annoyed me so much...

Hey

I have read Night World Volume One and did in fact encounter a Mary Sue.
I thought the stories were alright, but yeah she was quick to describe the characters and there wasn't much suspense, despite the vampire, witch theme.

I have also just finished reading the Vampire Diaries books and must say that they are nowhere near as good as the tv series.

I did, however take the time to read them so they can't be too awful, now can they?

I'm sorry to disagree on the vampire diaries! I have to ask did you read them before or after the TV series because the TV series is nothing like the book and it kind of screws up your mind! I read all of them and i love them yes Elena can get annoying but the boys Steffan and Damion so so intresting and amazing! The twist on the last book was amazing!! :D

I'm sorry to offend anyone who actually likes these books, but I tried reading one and I couldn''t even finish it. I was reading one of the Night World books and it was a story about some girl w/cancer or something. To me, it was just the girl complaining and complaining. Although she was writing before Stephanie Meyer (I think), I have to say Twilight was better.

On the other hand, I think the shows are AMAZING and I can't wait for the new season.

This thread is confusing... Are you all talking about the Night World or Vampire Diaries?

I liked the first volume of the Night World but after that it began to get a little repetitive, and all the characters had the same traits; good looking, dangerous, but all with this kind of mysterious romantic aura type thing.

As for Vampire Diaries, the first two books are basically better written version of Twilight. They are pretty good, but Part 4 onwards just gets seriously confusing and extremely unrealistic.
The TV show was good, but absolutely nothing like the books. They've just pulled out some of the characters and event and stuck them into a completely different story, but I guess they're okay as long as you don't compare them to the books... I only really watch them because of Ian Somerhalder :L

I've read several Vampire book series, and I feel that the Night World Series was one of my favorites. It comes in 2nd when I compare it to the House of Night Series followed by the Twilight series. I like vampire books. I feel they bring out the fantasy that several people like to read.
