Soft music all the way....

GeorgeMichael

the sound of llamas of course!!! just kidding :P I like to have the TV on, maybe a movie or something. But silence doesn't work for me.

Soft music, I do everything with loud music except for creative writing :) But of course if they were some llamas available then definately the sound of llamas :llama:

Sometimes, I have to listen to a really loud and wild song to picture a fight-scene. But since I gave up rock - at least, I'm getting there; I'll admit. I slip from time to time - I've had to look for really wild classical music. Strangely enough, I've found a few: There's Door of Destiny, the Kraken theme from POTC, Here comes the King, etc...

But yeah...that's just me...

(If there was a way to show you the fight scenes going on in my head along with the music, I'd so go for it! You guys have no idea how crazy they are! :D)

Erm...I can't stand total silence.

How come you gave up rock?

Rafael Domination

Turned Christian...I'm still FAR from what I want to be...still a beginner at it...but yeah, I'm trying to shift my sight on classical music...something with a good melody and not much screaming.

but, anyway...back to the topic...:D

It sucks for me a bit, cuz' my computer isn't in my room, and I really can't write much without someone laughing loudly, watching the TV, or looking over my shoulder while talking on the phone. It's a pity they're my family and friends - I can't jam tissue paper down their throats and shut them up

(Yeah...I'm still violent)

I wish I'd hear more people say stuff like that. Some of my floor mates played this song in the lounge while I was brainstorming, and it wasn't very loud, but the lyrics started giving me a headache and I went back to my room. I honestly tried to bear it, but it just sickened me. :glare:

GeorgeMichael

lol, what type of song was it Andy?

I agree there are some things that I can't stand, this isn't even limited to when I'm writing but I just can't stand most of that rap crap (well, there it is huh?) that some people listen to. I guess it's really just a preference but I just hear people talking at different speeds with a beat, that's all and some of it is ok but I just can't stand it or the most part.

Ahahah! Thanks Andy :D

My sister's into hip hop. I mean, seriously, do you now how hard it is to write a quiet scene with Souja Boy howling off in the background?

Don't even get me started on Beyonce...

I prefer the sounds and smells of llamas. It is very inviting and pleasing. Helps move my brains.

Actually, I go for both soft and hard classical music. There's no difference.

I write best in silence, but normally someone has the TV on downstairs (like right now,) and there's nothing I can do about that.

I can edit with music, though. And do homework with music. Yes.

But soft music, you know? Classical? Instrumental? All singing is foreign?

Eve
12-15-2007, 12:24 PM
La Mer? It's foreign too. :P Though very horribly opera-ish

Carraka

Actually, I only have the English version. And since it's English, I can't listen to it.

I usually listen to rock/alternative music but Soulja Boy stilll rocks my world:P And I wrote an indepth essay about modern music while Soulja Boy was in the background and I got an A so there goes your theory:P

That's one of the songs that gives me a headache. All those yoooooouuuuus are so annoying. Why can't people play some of the other 4,000 songs on their iTunes more often?

I'm so overly obsessed with Soulja Boy...I even know the dance. :P

Rafael Domination
12-15-2007, 09:49 PM
That's the point :D

It's just forces your feet to dance. How am I supposed to stay by the keyboard? That rhyhtm conflicts with my natural heartbeat as well, so, yeah...I prefer to avoid it

Dancing gets my brain working...ok so I'm odd:D

By the way Raffy, I still don't see what turning Christian has to do with giving up rock...

Music is good for inspiration, not for writing. So, silence for me.

In all honesty I can do with complete silence or really loud background, but nothing in the middle. Well, let me rephrase: if I can make out actual words and sentences in what is happening around me, I can't write or read, but if it's 20 people babbling at the same time and I can't make out what any of them are saying individually, then it just because noise and I can write and read :P.

Hehee, when I can makeout what other people are saying i just tune them out:D

Well, it takes time to master, but you have to be so absored in what you're doing that you forget about other people:D That's the eaiset trick.

You don't have to concentrate, just think the other people aren't there.

alll the better, if you pretend what they're doing is lame , it makes tuning out faster. It's all a matter of practice really;)

Especially when my favourite song is played!

Eve

Nyx
12-27-2007, 06:20 PM
Hey Starrie, I haven't seen you around before *waves*:)

Anywas, I can't really work with my favorite songs because I tend to start singing at the top of my voice and doing really odd dance moves here and there:P

I've heard that 'One Day' song frm the POTC movie sountrack, and fell in love with it. Now I use it all the times when writing about grand or beautiful scenes (like my character looking from a mountainside, etc)...

Since I write at night it creeps me out when there is no noise at all... but I cant concentrate when there is too much noise. So normally I have my tv turned way down in the bg or I have some quiet music playing on my computer

I listen to MTV... and since I write at night I like listening to music and it's WAY errie in my room... cause like it makes weird creaking sounds >.<

I can't do the silence thing. I'm a pro at tuning things out... It has gotten to the point where I have to be tuning out something, or I'll fall asleep, so I usually have music or the television turned on, medium-loud, if no one's home. If they are, I have to be where I can hear them. It's weird.

Most often I like silence if it's something I need to concentrate but some times I like soft music. Depends on my mood I guess.

sXe_Jinxeh
09-26-2008, 06:06 PM
Definitely need music. I like it loud, because it drowns out the rest of my family.

But music is so important to a lot of my characters, particularly DJ. If I don't have the right music playing, I can't get into the mood for her. Like one time I had my iTunes on random and was scribbling down random intense DJ scene--who is a crazy, angsty, angry rocker with an obsession with Queen--and a Hilary Duff song came on. Totally killed the mood, >.<

I listen to the music from various soundtracks. Quietly, but all the same.

Well mostly I like complete silence so that I can enjoy my time while writing and listening to music...

Rowenny

Before I couldn't imagine my writing without soft music in the background, especially one that fits the story. Now, sometimes, I find myself writing in total silence, because I can feel that it is easier to concentrate like that.
