Do you write in a personal journal or diary?

No. Because I'm afraid a family member will read it.

I keep one, but haven't updated it in a while.

Actually, it got full, so I started on a second. :)

This whole topic reminds me of this show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5145Ia7cOdA). Event the intro's a journal.

I don't. I never really thought about it, and by the time I did, I didn't feel like starting one.

I blog, but it's not always personal. Sometimes it is, but rarely about my life.

I do. I've already learnt the consequences of having a private journal though - my friend read it. Oops!

But I need it. A journal to me is a place where I don't have to hide or conceal my thoughts. In my journal I can write about whatever I want, whoever I want, whenever I want. It is a release for me, when I am frustrated or angry, to write in my journal. It calms me down!

I do so too. I like writing about my worries or thoughts - it calms me down - but I don't feel the need to write there daily . Even more strange, sometimes (or most of the times) I don't write about my everyday life or my everyday worries but about more general things. Some other times , I don't even write or use it us a diary , I draw something or write a story in english ( don't be confused , english isn't my native language ). The best part( I think) is when you read what you had written months or years ago and you try to recall why or how this event happended !

I don't, primarily because it seems pointless to me.

That's usually what I like best about it, too. It makes you realize just how far you've come since then. Smarter, etc. Or helps you realize how silly something in the past was, but you took it seriously back then.

Sometimes I'll look at an old entry and then just write my present thoughts on it. Sometimes I'll just write stuff meant to be looked at by me later on.

I've got a diary I don't write in it much only when I'm really happy or mad, but mostly when I'm mad. when I go back and reread stuff it sounds like I have a terrible life (which is not true :P).

My life and thoughts are not interesting enough to waste paper on.

I have one though I don't use it very often...
The reason I guess is because I don't have the time.
Though, when I do, it helps me vent since nothing seems to be right in my life right now...

I used to, but that kind of tapered off after one day... ;)

I did, but I didn't write well in it (I sounded like a whiny little kid) so I stopped. I couldn't stand realizing how ugly it sounded.

I know I already posted and voted no, but this semester I have to write a personal journal for my advanced writing class. I think I'm going to stick with blog-writing once this class is done, though. I don't really like writing stuff that goes in a personal journal.

All the time! I try to write every day and it works, but I never write about what's going on- it's so boring! I mostly go on about feelings, writing doubts, books I liked, a lot of quotes and how lovely the sunrise looks:)

It helps a lot with my writing since I like to write as the characters in my stories.

If I do write in a personal journal, it's usually when something really really annoys me or really really excites me. I write in it when I need to get stuff off my chest.
