First, capitalize your sentences. This is a writing website.
You add an avatar by going to User CP (or control panel) at the top of the screen, then click on Edit Avatar. If you have a pic you want to use stored on your computer, you can upload it. You can also use a URL to another website.

At least for me, using pictures from my computer doesn't work because they're too big, so if that's the case for you, too, you'll have to upload them to a host website first, then use the link.
