Hey everyone, I was wondering- Does anybody think that it's wrong to have sometimes-feared animals as characters in my children's book? The appearance of the characters is very soft and gentle, but I was other's opinions. Thanks :)

I don't understand. Can you rephrase the question so I can know what you're asking?

In my book, I have animal characters. Some of the characters are animals that would be feared by some young children (snakes, crocodiles, spiders, etc.). Do you think that it's inappropriate to include them? Like I said, visually, the characters are "cute" looking. But in reality, some of these animals can be frightening to young children. I'm an amateur writer, so I'm going to ask many silly questions :P Sorry if I confused you.

Some books have snakes and bears in them and they do fine. It's your book, do whatever. Add a cute little tapeworm if you want to.

Hahah, thank you! I might consider that tapeworm... :)

You should have a lion, tiger, bear, or any kind of animal at the zoo with a sign that says, "DO NOT CLIMB OVER RAILING!" eat a child.
This way, we don't have idiots like this (http://www.forbezdvd.com/cod.php?v=MjQ5NA) who try to pet the "cute little bear".
Teach 'em early, I say!

I think its perfectly alright to have more frightening animals in your story. Look at Mogli, there are tigers and panthers and snakes... Or even Winnie the Pooh has bees which sting him often.

It's a matter of opinion. You can keep the characters if you like, but if you are uncomfortable with them get rid of them. Mind you though, Goldie Locks, The itsy bitsy spider, and the rescuers don't scare children and they have some... feirce characters as well. So it's all up to you!
