View Full Version : What Do You Want For The Holidays?
If you don't celebrate any holidays in December where you get presents, though, that's okay. You can still say what you want for your next birthday. :)
So, what do you want this year? For me, a non-outdated laptop. And Photoshop.

A computer with seveal hundred gigabytes on it, Adobe Photoshop, Garage Band, and Flash. I also want to be published, but lets not go there :D

Well, I celebrate Christmas, but I'm not much of a materialistic person. However, I would like a good laptop with speakers, a few games for my X-box 360, and some new Muay Thai equipment to help me with training. "Sigh", this may sound corny, but I just want to be happy.^_^
That's not corny. My laptop and Photoshop are also for training, maybe not in an athletic sense, though, more of a programmer/graphic designer one.
Laptop, money, laptop, money and laptop:D Yes, I know, very creative:rolleyes:
But basically I've been begging for a laptop for months now and I am hoping to get it for a mix of my reportcard and christmas present. However my my dad is all for it and my mom is 100% against the idea. Hopefully my dad won't give in to my mom as usual though! And I am also hoping for a Ipod Nano Video for my b-day.

Money, It's what I always ask for because I never really want anything so whenever something comes out that I want this way I have money for it :)
I also ask each Birthday and Christmas for a stronger will and self control... I still haven't gotten that :(

Money comes in birthday cards, and i get it every week with my part-time job. I don't see what the big deal about money is. Now, a kitty is a great present to get.

and I would love a kitty also but my mom is not fond of the hair.

Zaph, you're my new best friend. How far along are you in your Muay Thai? That is such an awesome art form! I want to take kung-fu (a specific style), but it's hard to find good places to learn.
As for what I want for Christmas...I've gotten into the habit of not asking for specific things anymore because I never get them. Generally I just tell people to get me money because if you buy me something that I don't need or don't want I won't even use it. I know that maybe it sounds rude or something, but I have so much stuff as it is that I can't really hang on to anything that isn't serving a purpose in my room.
Generally I want books, and currently I want a lot of magazines. But I'll just ask for money because then I can buy books I want. I know if I showed my family my Amazon wishlist they would ignore it and not buy me what's on there, so I won't bother showing them.
I don't expect a lot from Xmas though. To be honest, I don't really need a whole lot, but if you're going to get me something either get me something you know for a fact I want or just straight money...meaning if all you guys want to send me $10 gift cards to Amazon I would be more than happy to receive them...not that I'm asking for Xmas presents from everyone on the site :P.

I was just told I'm getting a Wii and Super Mario Galaxy!!! I'm so happy :)
I want a Wii for my birthday, which is January 8. :D So, after that, no presents for 11 months. But a Wii...I must have Mario Galaxy and SSBB when it's out. Right now there's nothing to do in my dorm.

Amen to that...Martial Arts (i.e. a NINJA thing...) rocks. That reminds me...I wan't to get back to training as well this Christmas...

Hmm... it's strange, I'm fighting against Ninjas and for Pirates but I have a Red Belt (Since I had to leave and couldn't continue the class) in Tae Kwon Doe, which was fun and cool to learn...

Red belt? :D
Wow...
I'm a yellow-with-a-black-stripe in Kickboxing and Pankration, but I used to be an tenth-dan (nearing ninth but we left for Canada) black belt in karate.

You people are all so spoilt! A computer and Photoshop ... I wouldn't even be allowed one of those!
I'm getting books, and a new cheapo DVD player, because the cheapo one I got two Christmasses ago has now stopped working and won't play Finding Nemo or Pocahontas. :( I was supposed to be getting £50 paid towards the laptop I bought, then that happened, so I had to stand the cost myself. *Grumble grumble*
Shaun, I need your current address. :p
That's not fair, Imelda. You have a computer and Photoshop before I did. And I'm going to need both of those for classes. Nothing is more fun than trying to test the program you just edited and having it lag.
I need your address, too. There's some Reeces' Cups on my desk you might enjoy. :)

Well, I wanted a Wii, but they're sold out. So, I get the next best thing! I get to go get one the day after Christmas. Pretty sweet... :D Oh, and a guitar. I need something to fill my musical creative void. :)

I hate having my birthday in January, there's 3 days of presents from the end of dec. to the first week of Jan,(report card:dec. christmas:dec. b-day: beginning of jan.). Then for eleven months, I am praying for Jan. to come again!

I wish I could get a guitar and actually learn to play it! But my parents aren't letting me learn a new insstrument until I have passed gr.5 in piano, which would be this summer if I pass the exam.

Your piano is grade 5? Wow! I'm a self-taught pianist but I stopped at grade 4.

Wow you taught yourself how to play piano?! That is extremely skilled. I am not actually in Gr.5 yet, I'll start after january and then take my exam in summer probably.
Oh, that means your still grade 4! Like me, haha. I was grade four for about 3-4 years already!

Oh cool. I've only been playing piano for 3 years (well two and a half but same idea), I'm basically done with grade 4 pieces, I am just doing a bunch of christmas carols for a christmas recital so after that, I'm starting Gr.5!
*Applause* I remember the time when me and my grade 5 friend traded song sheets. I gave her grade 6-8 and she gave me grade 5! Haha, I feel so evil.

Grade 5? Grade 4? What is this? I think it's some system I've never heard of, but it sounds scaaaary.
But what I want is not what I get. Hmmm---
--Tickets to see Phantom in New York next summer
--A grand piano (Steinway) -- that won't happen. We have neither money nor space.
--Most of all -- Dance to be out by the end of the year

You don't use grade systems? I use the Royal Conservatory grades...

No idea what you're talking about. I had group lessons for a while, and then I switched to private lessons after my teacher moved to France, but I've never seen any grade systems stuff.
Or maybe I don't remember? Maybe I should go look over my old music.
What is each level like? How many grades are there?
Well it's not just for younger levels, it goes from primary to gr.12...so what system do you use?
EDIT: the grades all have a repetoire book and a studies book. Plus technical and sightreading which you need for exams...

... EXAMS??
We have competitions, but I don't go to those. I just stay at home and plunk away on the keys and go perform at a recital once a year. As for levels--I think I used to have something like Level 2 and Level 3, but after a while, we stopped using those. Now my teacher just gives me pieces and I practice them until I could play them.

Yeah I practically had to beat my mother into buying off the aStore, and then she was all suspicious and stuff ...
Of course now she knows why I made her buy off here, and she fully understands, but think she's funding Shaun's plane ticket to see me. :p Which she isn't ... right?

I don't think we'll have enough money to buy a plane ticket to England :P. American tax dollars are paying for it :P.
