View Full Version : I Have A Terrible Confession to Make

My name is Alice, and I'm a Quizilla writer. *gasp*

I decided to join this site after being fed up with the quality of work on that site for over three years (If you haven't been there, the stories on the most popular list include such titles as "Kidnapped By My Father's Enemy's Hot Son... Did I Just Say Hot?!-Chapter Thirty-Two".)

The sad thing is, that's not even among the worst titles, because that author actually understands basic spelling and grammar. I've survived this long with a very small close knit community of actual writers in the Quizilla Forums, but one by one they've been giving up.

Although I consider myself to be a better writer than the average 12 year old author of "OMG!!! I wuz kidnapped by the jonas brothers!I!!!" I have developed a few bad habits as a result of my Quizilla upbringing, in that my stories are often incredibly cheesy :)

I mostly write plays and musicals actually, but I've written a few short stories, and have way too many novels to count on the go, none of which have been completed.

I would really love to become a better writer with your help, and I'm hoping that I can use the little that I've learned about writing to help you guys out.

Don't worry, Alice, I understand your plight. I, too, was a Quizilla/FF.net writer. *Le gasp!*
Considering your prime parent in your writing skills, I won't be too harsh, but I trust you to be better than the average twelve-year-old Quizilla writer. ;)

I haven't been on Fanfiction.net, since I've never written one :(

But Quizilla stories usually have CHARACTER PROFILES before the first chapter....
Here is a sample Quizilla story (One of the better ones, if you'll believe it):

Rooming wit the vampire prince in an all vamp skool. But the prince is falling for me and so am i. Is that good? (1:I hate family

“What! What do you mean I’m rooming with boys!!?” I yelled at my aunt. Right now we were in Greenland in the middle of nowhere in a boarding school and I’m rooming with three guys. My aunt is the wife of the headmaster so they were able to let me in for free.

“I’m sorry sweetie but when you were on the airplane we had no room so your mom said it would be ok if you were to have to room with boys. But it will only be for this school year and then when you come back after summer you’ll be in a girl’s dorm!” My aunt said trying to cheer me up on this situation.

“Doing that isn’t helping.” I said grabbing my stuff. “Here” She said. She gave me the keys to the dorm and a map. “Sweetie you’ll like it here. You may even find a lover in your own dorm!” She said helping my leave. “Whatever.” I mumbled. “ I love you munchkin!” She called out. “And I hate you. I hate family.” I mumbled letting a piece of my black hair move in front of my eye.

Twilight isn't that bad as a nice entertaining read. It sure as hell isn't a great literary work, but it's fun, and some of the characters are well done.

That was actually pretty good by Quizilla standards.

Quizilla. At least a good number of people on fanfiction.net have good grammar. :doh: And Alice is right - Twilight is better than most of the stories on Quizilla.

Hah. But you haven't read my writing yet.

And okay, so Breaking Dawn is the worst book ever. But I was thoroughly entertained by the first three, and I think the characters of: Charlie, Leah, Alice, Rosalie and Jacob are well developed and awesome :) (Not including anything that happens in the fourth book.)

I'm so going to get my head bitten off for this, aren't I.

I've never written on Quizilla before, but from the sounds of it, it sounds pretty awful. And that "sample" story almost made me throw up my supper. *shudders* Anyway, I'm very pleased to meet you. :)

Welcome to YWO, LadySpike. I've never heard of Quizilla but I have heard of FanFiction.net, I'm addicted to the site. (Well I only go on it to read fanfictions.)
