So I've been at the Ren Faire in Kentucky. I was very excited -- it was my first faire. Being a fantasy writer, I was delighted to see that they incorporated some fantastic elements into the faire instead of having it just be about the Renaissance. I even saw a family of elves. They were so beautiful, and their tiny daughter sprinkled fairy dust on me!

The best part was the jousting though. I sat in Scotland's section, and the cheerleader-type person for our section was really funny and obnoxious. "HIP HIP, HUZZAHHH!" Plus the knights AND the jester were all GORGEOUS. One of them was a woman, but she was pretty fine herself. And the jester? No one's paying attention to the jester, y'know? Halfway through the tourney, he takes off his jester hat/hood-thing and shakes out shoulder-length waves of blonde hair. My friends and I all had simultaneous heart attacks.

And those turkey legs. Mmm. And the Scottish band with their kilts and bagpipes, and the gypsies, and the root beer (best root beer I've ever had, hands down), and tiny children swordfighting with sticks. It was just so fun.

Have you ever been to a Ren Faire? Was it fun, or do you want to?

Oh, my gosh! I seriously want to go to a Renaissance fair. One of my favourite authors says that she goes with her family once a month. I want to go to one so badly. I will gave to look them up on the internet to see if my next destinations have one coming up.

Oh, you must. I have another RenFaire in my home state this September. That will be better, because I won't be walking around in a long skirt and corset sweating to death in the middle of summer.

I spent most of my time shopping, which mainly consisted of looking at the pretty, expensive things. There were swords of all shapes and sizes (one was taller than me), chain-mail for women, and gorgeous corsets. Of course, these things cost a lot more than I could afford. So I ended up buying a couple of necklaces and a fluttery pirate-ish skirt.

But really. The music, the vendors, and the people are just fun. And guess what? I added that jester on MySpace and we've been talking ;D Score!
