So, what do a lot of us love? Video games! One of my (and possibly other's) greatest inspirations. Discuss any genre and any console, but don't make a massive debate about a singular thing such as what the approximate length of a Wii remote is.

Truly, I'm a JRPG freak. For whatever reason all my favorite games stem back to Japan. My favorite PS3 games are Eternal Sonata, Valkyria Chronicles, and FFXIII. My very first game ever was Evolution Worlds on the GC.

Right now I'm playing Kingdom Hearts 358 2, Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar, The World Ends with You (on and off), and replaying Valkyria Chronicles. But DMC3 and Dragon Age should be coming in any day now ^^. And I think I'll ask Santa Claus for a PSP this year ;).

What else... I'm a loser and have a Mac so I don't play computer games :O. I still manage to play quite a few indie games, mostly visual novels. Love those.

I haven't played a video game in forever. Though way back in the day I was pretty much the greatest at the Final Fantasy games, with number 7 being the best (possibly best game ever made). I also actually liked Kingdom Hearts. But since then I've played video games maybe 5 times, usually at a friends house. Still pwn noob faces.

I am the ULTIMATE GAMER! I grew up playing Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It was, and still is, the best game EVER! I moved onto Gamecube, moved onto Baten Kaitos, and from then on, I was a JRPGer. I love them! The DS was a great time for them, The World Ends With You, Shin Megami Tensei, Valkyria Chronicles. Then, the Wii!!! Zelda: Twilight Princess, Bully: Scholarship Edition, and so many others. But then, there are the bad ones. Spectrobes, Disaster: Day of Crisis, and *Shudder* Animal: Vet Life...
I'm just waiting on my copy of Monster Hunter and my new Wii console. For four years, it has worked perfectly, but now it's dieing...

I tend to find repetitiveness in gaming. But to people, repetitiveness really compels them to play it and consider it fun. Which is why we have grinding in RPGs and even some FPSs now. This is why Nintendo is making so much because they make repetitiveness look so clean and enjoyable.

I have to say, I don't care too much for the classic Mario and Sonic games simply because it isn't nostalgic. It's just old. Yeah, I enjoy playing classic Mario casually, but I normally don't get half-way finished before I move to another game. I hate to admit it, but I did enjoy the 'crappy' Sonic console games. Just because they were some of my first games. Dunno if I'd pick up Shadow the Hedgehog now though... lol.

Not really what Bowie meant, but what do you think about repeating in a series? FPS are famous for this, in addition to most every fighter series (and let's not forget Pokemon). Anyway, I started thinking about this... after seeing the trailer for the Devil May Cry remake.

In my opinion, these developers just... fail. Though there are other changes, the one most talked about is the change in character design. Why on Earth would you go from this...

Seriously, WTF? Okay, maybe this has a tiny bit to do with the fact that I'm a girl and the old Dante is 10x hotter than the new one. But no matter how you look at it, Dante is his own unique character while the redesign looks like your typical 'badass' hero. Scratch that, he looks like EVERY categorized badass. Predictably, fans are enraged. Most developers know don't piss off the established fanbase. Apparently you did something right the first time, so why f*ck it up? You might think that it's such a minor thing if the gameplay is solid. Keep in mind DMC spawned a manga and anime. Gives me the impression fans of DMC are really more fans of Dante. Recently there was an interview with Capcom and this issue was addressed. This quote just blows my mind: "To be fair, I think some of the strategy here was to create that discussion and dialogue, and I think it drastically raises the visibility of the title versus if we had just done another Dante."

Replace visibility with publicity and it's not too hard to find the reason behind the design. I think making Dante look more mainstream is a huge part of it, but then you come to the same realization: $$$>Creating a great game. Yeah, it's nothing new.
