View Full Version : American Idol Sucks!

Yes, my worst fears have been realized: Kris Allen won the latest season of American Idol. I mean, what else can I say. As I said on my Idol review before, if this happens, Idol will forever lose the only credibility it has left. This is not a singing contest; it is a popularity contest.

This has happened so many times over the past seasons that those who deserve to win, lose. And those talentless pretty boys, win. Okay, let's get technical. The two contestants had three songs each, of course I'm not gonna go into detail because you were there, watching. In their battle, Adam clearly won. And to repeat, Kris only got one good song, which he sang before, "Ain't No Sunshine When She's gone..." or whatever.

Based on their final performances, Adam clearly desrves to win. I can't believe it. I know why Idol added that SAVE of theirs, so they can avoid mistakes. But I guess that didn't work. Why?
BECAUSE KRIS ALLEN WON!

He has made so many mistakes in the contest that I can't believe he's even in the Top 10. WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY? IDOL IS NOW ON MY BLACKLIST OF SHOWS THAT I WILL NEVER WATCH AGAIN.

I will never live this down. Join my Facebook group on how Idol Season 8 sucks. Click (http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=78520367935&view=user#/group.php?gid=78520367935)

I know. Adam Lambert rocks my world.

What my mom said was maybe that a record company had paid off AI so that they could have him, therefore making Kris the winner when he clearly didn't deserve it.

You noticed Simon sitting when the winner was announced, yes?

My friend knows Kris. She told me when the new season started that the show was rigged. =/

Hey, look on the bright side. Now Adam can go off, get a much better deal with a different record company, and not be stuck with that horrible pop song as his first single. He's really better off than if he had won.

Starry: He still has to pay the Idol people a percentage of his money if he gets signed somewhere. It's in the contract.

And I could have told you all that Idol was rigged. It's been that way from the beginning, from start to finish.

Yup, noticed that. Not really many people were happy. Most of those screams were screams of outrage. Rigged, that is just horrible. There are no more talent shows I can trust!

Hmm, nice topic. I always watch American Idol and I was almost certain that this year was going to be Adam. But there is one thing I think that gave Kris more of an advantage. He appealed to a wider range of ages (Adam was definitely just the teens/young adults). Also when Danny Gokey got voted off the show, I'm sure many of his fans voted for Kris because Danny and him shared the same sort of style to their music. Also, both Kris and Adam showed great musicianship but I believe when it came to creativity and just the blank dry music, Kris was better. Kris could sing with just his guitar or piano and it sounded really really good! Adam would have probably sounded fantastic as well but he never really did it on the Idol stage. I guess I'm also glad that Kris won because now Adam doesn't have to live inside the "American Idol" Box (if that makes any sense). And, he doesn't have to sing that STUPID FINALE SONG!!!! Is there anyone else who thought "No Boundaries" was uber corny???

No Boundaries was not the best Idol song ever. And I'm glad Adam didn't have to sing it. Interesting idea on the whole Idol-crap-thing. But, in my opinion, what got Kris to the top spot were the votes of hormonal teenage girls. You know , he was the "cute" boy-next-whatever type, just like Archuleta. Hormonal teenage girls ruin everything.

Hormonal teenage girls ruin everything. I agree.

The hormonal teenage girls (it's actually more the preteen girls) are the only ones who vote. That's why the results always end up so weird. You're not going for crowd appeal, you're going for teeny-bopper appeal.

Yeah I agree, they seem to always mess things up, and the way they talk back to you as if they're better then you. *Shudders* I'm glad I'm not like that.
My class was devastated to find out the results of that show.
Also, Adam Lambert rocks!!!

I agree! Adam is so much better than Kris; Kris made me want to fall asleep every time he sang. He's okay, I guess, but still . . . Adam should've won. And yeah, those hormonal teens always screw stuff up, what with their hormones and all . . . xD

Queen (The band, yes, THE Queen) is talking to Adam about a potential position to work with them.

I've never liked American Idol... The competition itself is a glorified karaoke contest. It's always been fixed. I've predicted who's going to be "voted off" several times before, without even seeing anyone sing or seeing/hearing any feedback of any sort. Still, I was surprised when Adam didn't win, but I understand why he didn't.

Queen (The band, yes, THE Queen) is talking to Adam about a potential position to work with them.

I think that's BS. You just can't replace the late and great Freddie Mercury.

They weren't going to replace him or anything, just use Adam's talent and get the band going again. No one said anything about him becoming a permanent member of Queen, they would just like to work with him.

We're even hearing that in Australia.
And puh-lease. ALL of the Idol shows suck like a vacuum cleaner. They're all fixed, and lame. The judges don't know what they're talking about (are any of THEM singing teachers? Do they know what the advice they give actually does to the voice? And you put them in a position of power. Good job, media! *sarcastic thumbs up*), and, like you said, aj.e, it really is just a show of how pretty someone's face is.
But! There is yet hope. People who are worth their salt (ie Most recorders) recognise talent when they see it. ^_^ Adam'll do fine, and really, he's much better off being rated second - we all know that most Idol winners don't make it. Look at Guy Sebastian! ^_^

PS: Just for those who don't know (which is pretty much everyone), I'm a classical singer, who trains as a singing teacher, so that's where my bias comes in. Just if you're wondering on what grounds I'm protesting against Idol.

I guess Idol's all right if you want a little publicity. You can make a foll of yourself and everyone will recognize you. Miss_Smiley, audition for an awful talent show, do your best don't win, but use the exposure as much as you can, and then someone who knows real talent will discover you, and voila, you're famous. That's the only thing Idol is good for, publicity. even if you don't win, as long as people like you, you'll make good of your career. That's why I'm not worried for Adam, even if he wasn't in Idol, someone would discover him eventually. He just rode the AI fandom and will suck it for all it's got.
