*Hits myself hard on the forehead* I'm just so new and here I am, doing suggestions. Shame on you, Eve. Sorry, well, I just visited some RPG sites and I noticed most of them have their own podcasts- uploaded through youtube or from their own digital recorder. I have my own podcast for my site too. I was wondering if this site could have their own podcast. Each from different members or a group of senior members where after we could compile it all in one.
There could also be best story of the month and a good reader could add it into the podcast.

Noooo DON'T HIT YOURSELF FOR GIVING SUGGESTIONS!!!

That's my job. -hits you for hitting yourself for giving suggestions-
You can, however, hit yourself for having a suggestion but not posting it. Um. -hits self several hundred times-

Now that that's all over, my answer to your suggestion is: sure, why not?
Followed closely by: My story is not the best story on this site, so don't read it aloud.
Followed closely by: It ought to be a short story anyway.
Followed closely by: I have a bad electronic voice, so I won't be speaking.
Followed closely by: Let's interview Imelda! Again!
Followed closely by: I know, I can be a transcriber!
Followed closely by: Happy Thanksgiving, you American people!

Owowowowow! You know how painful it is to be hit? Oooh! *Rubs shoulder*

Well, I'm sure your stories are Wingardium Fabulosa! Look forward to reading them!

I wouldn't hit people if it didn't hurt them. -affronted-

You "look forward" to reading them? THAT'S JUST ANOTHER WAY OF SAYING YOU NEVER WILL!!!!

-buries head in arms- -bawls- -looks up surreptitiously to see if anyone is going to read her story to make her feel better- -continues bawling-

Aww... don't cry. Hush little poochie pooch please don't cry, mama's gonna buy you a pumpkin pie.

Carraka

But I don't like pumpkin pie!

-sniffsniff-

Aaaaand I'm not a poochie poooooch!

-wails-

... this sure is off-topic. Quick! Add something to make it on-topic again!

We could--interview people? In our podcast? -smiles weakly- Or give advice?

Eve

Sure! Have a thread for that, poochie pooch?

Carraka
11-22-2007, 02:32 PM
A thread for-- THAT'S IT! I'M NOT THANKING YOU FOR THAT POST!

-sulks-

But why would we create another thread?

Eve

Cradles head and sniffs loudly. WHA!

Well, it'd be neater for one and more organised.

Carraka

No, I mean -- what would we create the thread for?

Eve

Just one for Podcasting but that will mean more bandwidth. Never mind. *Crushes idea and tosses it away

You are not interviewing me again. :)

Carraka

Wait, what? How is this for the lit. section? And you didn't move it--?

Imelda
11-22-2007, 06:11 PM
Because he's whining at me. ;)

I'm extremely confused. I think Shaun meant to post that in the thread he did move "Feedback needed", but got mixed up.

And then you posted that, and I don't get that at all.

It was supposed to go to a different thread, sorry...I just noticed it...idiot moment.

Back on Topic.

Bandwidth shouldn't be a problem, since there are free hosting sites dedicated solely to podcasts.

However, it requires a lot of time, planning, and effort, and we're a rather small site now, so not a lot of people would be listening to it. At least right now, I'd like to focus more on maintaining the site and making sure it's heading in the right direction. Once we're more established, etc, I think we could divert some of our attention to a podcast.

I also think we should make a blog at some point, and since blogs are much more common, popular, and easier to make, I'd like to start one of those first. But again, only when we're ready.

Thanks for the suggestion, though! *Thanks* I'd really like us to have a podcast someday.

What he said. I like the idea of a podcast, and yes, I would love to do it some day, but not soon. Maybe in a few months when our membership is higher. Right now we're at about 70 members. Not quite enough to warrant putting time into a podcast, especially since Andy and I already have our hands full modding as it is, and we're both at Uni and have a lot of things to do. If we get to a point where we have extra mods and Andy and I have more evened out then it will be a big consideration.

I second the blog thing too. The problem is finding the need for a blog at this point. What would we use the blog for? I want to make sure it's going to be something that people are going to want to read in the first place.

It's a good idea and we're not dismissing it. It's in our list of 'things to eventually do', but not in our immediate things to do. We need to advertise the site more, get more members, increase activity, etc.
