Okay, I've read the series. I'll admit that. But what's so amazing about it? It bugs me how every girl goes crazy over love stories! What I detest the most is how people relate to it every day, talk about it at school, phone people and talk about it. Also I HATE a heroine that can't stand up on her own, so yeah Bella gets 'strong' eventually but, though magic. I don't think that's right. So now Bella's supossedly 'perfect'!
The worst of it: How people react! Girls swooning over Edward that just kills me!
Yesterday I was at a book shop and guess what I saw! A bag that said 'I love boys who sparkle' That just disgusted me. The people who love that book should pick up something better than that!
Sorry to all you Twilight lovers out there if this post bothers you. :glare:

It's the same reason that preteens and teenage girls prefer the Phantom over Raoul in the Phantom of the Opera. They have the false notion that obsession is love, or can not yet tell the difference. The fact that the story is in first person makes it worse, as the reader is able to place themselves into the character's melodramatic shoes. In addition, most teenagers are selfish and the main character is an epitome of vanity, despite what her claims that she is average looking. She constantly puts others below her and only the vampires are greater than she.
She never, throughout the book, grows a backbone. She refuses to admit to an abuse relationship that the author glosses over and makes it seem 'okay'. Bella has shown herself to be spineless, allowing Edward to rule her life. People think its romantic while in real life, it would be seen as pathetic, especially since she likes Edward because of his looks.
Another reason so many people like this book is because it is virtually sexless and safe. Even in Breaking Dawn, the sex scene fades to black, making it a light porn for younger readers. It makes them feel safe and comfortable, there isn't too much sexual tension like in most vampire novels.
In any case, I'll cut my rant short. Actually, this should probably be in the Anti-Twilight group, so as to cut spam and so the Twilight fans do not feel overwhelmed with the intense dislike of the book. ^^;;

We have a thread for this, and we have all beaten it so many times that we can all agree that it sucks.

I thought Bella was an abrasive little emo snob, simultaneously arrogant and self-deprecating, with a narrative voice unrealistic for a teenager.
