So, we've discussed this in a welcome thread. Any ideas for the YWO Theme Song? Please note, it does not have to go ahead. :D

Andy

Just one thing: Please do not mention TW or "inferior writing sites" or anything like that in any songs. :D Seriously, we don't want to be insulting anyone.

Aaaaw! *throws load of papers into bin and goes to sulk* :P

I feel that it should be a merry little jingle with a chipmunk voice singing the verses...

The Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas song is forbidden in my house. At least, I go nuts when it plays. Never. :D

Sigh...there go my chipmunks...

How about Symphony 40, by Mozart?

We're the chipmunks duh duh duh duh Alvin, Simon, Theodore! Duh duh! Duh duh duh duh! Duh duh! Duh duh duh duh!

Watch out cause here we come
It's been a while but we're back with style
So get set to have some fun
We'll bring you action and satisfaction

We're the chipmunks
C-H-I-P-M-U-N-K
We're the chipmunks
Guaranteed to brighten your day

When you feel like a laugh
Give us a call we'll give you a roll
And if you feel like a song
Tune in to us and sing right along

We're the chipmunks
Coming on stronger than ever before
We're the chipmunks
Alvin, Simon, Theodore

Yes...I have too much time on my hands.

the song by Turisas..To Holmguard And Beyond..or Maybe One More...or Rasputin

I'll look those songs up, as I think Turisas are awesome, but I was thinking one we make up rather than take another song.

Nice, Shaun. We love you, even if you have a load of time on your hands. :D

Andy

We could take an existing song and change the lyrics. Just like Weird Al made a Star Wars song by redoing American Pie. :D

jordanisonfire

He did that? *runs to YouTube*

It's called The Saga Begins, if you can't find it.

jordanisonfire
11-20-2007, 06:22 PM
Yep, found it. It's quite good. :D

Shaun
11-20-2007, 06:38 PM
Well we'd need someone who can sing...I can't sing.

Why don't we make a YWO musical? Seriously. I was part of a site a long time ago that had a long history and a bunch of people actually got together and took songs that were already written (like Bohemian Rhapsody) and changed the lyrics...inevitably telling the story of the stie. It was hilarious and amazing.

jordanisonfire
11-20-2007, 06:53 PM
Well, I'm down for that. But do we have the skills to do that?

Shaun
11-20-2007, 07:25 PM
Well it can't be too difficult to take other people's songs and put our lyrics over them. We just need to have a story for it :P.

Shrike125
11-20-2007, 07:43 PM
i can make one and add it to a song by Turisas or Lordi or Iron Maiden..or even Tenacious D

Imelda
11-20-2007, 08:34 PM
Doesn't that have serious legality issues?

Shaun
11-20-2007, 09:04 PM
Only if we actually sing the songs. It's not like we're stealing the music :P

Nyx
11-21-2007, 02:14 AM
I like that. But we have to come up with away that we can all contribute to the song...

Shaun
11-21-2007, 02:22 AM
Well, hmm, that's something to think about :S

Nyx
11-21-2007, 02:34 AM
haha, or of course someone could just make it by himself;)

Shaun
11-21-2007, 02:45 AM
Well if we got a lot of people involved we would have to agree on a very strict plotline for the musical that nobody could diverge from. Otherwise it would go all over the place. So what we could do is figure out how many people would want to do it and then assign parts of it to each person (perhaps each person gets to write the lyrics for one song and one section of dialogue)...

Andy
11-21-2007, 07:54 AM
This is going to be tricky. Any song about a website will sound forced if it isn't done right. :D Maybe we could start with ideas about what the song would include?

Shaun
11-21-2007, 08:08 AM
Shouldn't be too hard. Just be straight forward and funny :P. We don't need overly complex lyrics or anything...

jordanisonfire
11-21-2007, 06:56 PM
NEWS FLASH!

Me and my band have made the song and posted it on YouTube. I'm the singer in case you want to know. My voice is not edited. Seriously. :P And I made the lyrics. I think they really go with YWO. :D

Shaun
11-21-2007, 07:04 PM
I think that's a little hard for a theme song :P. And that's not your band, that's Slipknot :P. I was so stoked though...I thought you really wrote a song with your bad...

jordanisonfire
11-21-2007, 07:09 PM
Nevertheless, it's still an awesome song. :D Sorry to get your hopes up, Shaun.

Maybe we should do what Andrew said: rip off some other song and re-write it in a comedy style, like what "Weird Al" Yankovic does. :)

Andy
11-21-2007, 08:07 PM
A long, long, time ago...in a chatroom far away,
Two writers talked 'till they were bored.
And in the thinking that ensued,
They thought that they'd try something new,
Like start a forum and then see it through.

See? Can you spell forced? Someone get a real poet in here! :)

Should we aim for humor?

Shaun
11-21-2007, 08:37 PM
Yes, we should aim for humor. It doesn't really matter if it is forced. It's a YWO musical :P. We just need it to follow the follow the song and basically tell a story through funny humor bits.

jordanisonfire
11-21-2007, 08:38 PM
We should do a parody of American Idiot. That'd go well. :D

Shaun
11-22-2007, 12:08 AM
American Idiot? Greenday?

Nyx
11-22-2007, 01:53 AM
A parody of American Idiot? Why does that sound familiar....;)

Shaun
11-22-2007, 04:58 AM

11-22-2007, 05:03 AM
so...no chipmunks? :(

Shaun
11-22-2007, 05:18 AM

Aww no chipmunks is official?

Shaun
11-22-2007, 05:51 AM
Well Andy is only 50% of the Admin's opinion :P, so if all the members want chipmunks they'll get it :P

Rafael Domination
11-22-2007, 05:54 AM
Woooo, YEAH!

(I am sooooo getting kicked out of the Fantasy Club! :D)

.....

I think we should focus on the comedy!

Eve
11-22-2007, 06:48 AM
What kind of music do you write?

Hmm... almost any kind. I don't do lyrics. Only music.

jordanisonfire
11-22-2007, 05:45 PM
I could sing. Seriously, I am a good singer! :)

Not.

Andy
11-22-2007, 09:07 PM
Well Andy is only 50% of the Admin's opinion :P, so if all the members want chipmunks they'll get it :P
Unfortunately, yes. :D

But how would we even do chipmunks, anyway? We'd have our own customized lyrics, right? So unless we get someone to mimic the chipmunks' voices, I don't see how we'd even do chipmunks if we wanted to.

Shaun
11-23-2007, 12:13 AM
You know how easy it would be to turn someone's voice into a chipmunk voice? It just takes some electronic modification :P. Getting people who can sing is a whole different thing...

Nyx
11-23-2007, 12:17 AM
oh can we have a chipmunk vs. someone singing vote?

Shaun
11-23-2007, 12:21 AM
Possibly :P. I'll talk to Andy about it. Are we all really serious about making a real YWO theme song? Because I have no musical talent really (as far as composing, except techno/trance/dance music), so I couldn't do a whole much beyond writing lyrics. So someone else would have to sing :P

Nyx
11-23-2007, 12:23 AM
We could have someone signing the lyrics and then do something cheesy like we all sing the chorus and put them together.

Shaun
11-23-2007, 12:32 AM
Haha, that would be very hard to do :P. I could do an Opera Man impression...would that be humorous?

Nyx
11-23-2007, 12:40 AM
haha depends if it's a good impression or not;)

Eve
11-23-2007, 04:47 AM
Ok, I can get someone to sing provided that he/she does not have to be videoed.

Rafael Domination
11-24-2007, 12:34 AM
Yay! We have a composer too!

Nyx
11-26-2007, 03:57 AM
So when are we going to start the amazing theme song?

Shaun
11-26-2007, 03:59 AM
I'm thinking not until some time later. Maybe when the quarter is out and I have a lot more time, or in theory I have a lot more time...

Nyx
11-26-2007, 04:05 AM
Ok well, looking forward to it.

Eve
11-27-2007, 05:02 AM
*Curtsies* Just ignore the first tune. It's pretty silly.

Shaun
11-27-2007, 06:10 PM
It's a good tune :P, a little repetitive I think, but good nonetheless.

jordanisonfire
11-27-2007, 07:05 PM
Well, it's the best we're gonna get so, like it or not, we're stuck with it. I, personally, think it's really good. Trouble is we need to find words that go along with that and someone who can sing them well...

Any volunteers? :D

Shaun
11-27-2007, 07:20 PM
I agree, it is good. Maybe Eve could do a little redesign on it though? Maybe make it so You have a very different middle section (a counter melody). So it feels more like a march, a British march no less. Such as if you listen to the Graduation Theme (the REAL theme, not the cut up version they play at graduations these days) it has a beginning, a middle, and end, and then it goes back to the middle and to the end again. That way we can really come up with some neat stuff for it and in the end of the song we could get everyone singing the theme and put it all in one audio track so it sounds like we're singing together :D.

Everyone has to sing?

Do you want to die?

My voice can arrange that...

Shaun
11-28-2007, 02:07 AM
It would just be funny to have a moment where everyone sings the melody even if it sounds horrible :P

Nyx
11-28-2007, 02:35 AM
Ok fine, maybe a quick chorus where we all join in?

Rafael Domination
11-28-2007, 02:36 AM
Still too risky...my voice might not kill anyone, but it might scar them for life...

Nyx
11-28-2007, 02:37 AM
Yes well my voice may result in a few nightmares, so we should say "listen at your own expense"?

Rafael Domination
11-28-2007, 02:38 AM
That would be a good idea :D

Eve
11-28-2007, 04:18 AM
*Laughs* Not to worry about that. I have a few friends with fantastic voices. I'll get to work with the lyrics to see if you guys like it.

Eve

O-oh let us join our pens to praise.
Write blithe and gay and free
Resolve to follow writing ways
And ever truthful be
To thi-ink hard and write with zest
To always strive to do our best
Sincere in all our writing
And generous in our wordings

Our pledge we take ever new,
Mean ideals good and clean.
The penmanship pure and true
Forever makes us keen.
To cherish our fellow writers
Now and forever later.
Onward with a great goal,
Forward we of Y.W.O

And though of diverse creeds we be,
Together we must work.
Without a trace of jealousy,
Our aim is not to shirk
In fiction or facts or poetry,
Or games which make us bliss and free.
The day when we must part,
May Y.W.O remain in our hearts

Pretty.............um......... silly but..............yeah.

Shaun
11-28-2007, 04:51 AM
We need random animal noises in there...could we get someone to say YWO like a donkey? eeee wooo eeee wooo :P

Nyx
11-28-2007, 06:03 AM
-raises hand- I can say it like a pig!:D:P

Imelda
11-28-2007, 03:27 PM
I can say it like a British person ...

And the 'graduation song' is Land of Hope and Glory! It's practically the official unofficial national anthem of the UK! Give it some respect. :p

jordanisonfire
11-28-2007, 05:39 PM
Here's something that'll make us get ideas: the person who comes up with the best song doesn't have to sing! :D But you don't want me singing anyway, because, as you can tell from my voice recording, I'm a teenager who's going through his voice just breaking, so it's neither high nor low and sounds terrible.

Shaun
11-28-2007, 06:13 PM
Hey if the Brady Bunch could do a song with a cracking teenage voice...so can we!

Eve
11-29-2007, 10:03 AM
So are we sticking to the tune?

Shaun
11-29-2007, 06:40 PM
I think so :).

Eve
11-30-2007, 09:56 AM
:) Great!

jordanisonfire
11-30-2007, 07:57 PM
Well, we're not gonna get any better, so we might as well use it. As I said before, now we just have to match words to the tune and write the lyrics. So, we need a good lyrics writer and someone who's good at singing and matching the flow of words to music. Any volunteers?

Eve
12-01-2007, 03:03 AM
Nuh uh, not me. I'm not good at that. Hmm.... should I hold a competition in another site? I'll link you the site so you can decide which entry is the best.

Shaun
12-01-2007, 03:46 AM
Well for singing, sure, but right now why don't we let people figure out a nice set of lyrics. So perhaps we should wait to see if anyone steps up who is a good lyricist...

Eve
12-01-2007, 01:39 PM
Sorry, I meant ask them to write the lyrics and sing the song. Kill two birds with one stone. Haha

Nyx
12-01-2007, 06:07 PM
I think it would make more sense if someone from YWO wrote the lyrics...

jordanisonfire
12-01-2007, 09:19 PM
Yeah, unless the person on the other site joined YWO. It'd work better if they knew more about it, even if we attempt to tell them about YWO.

Rafael Domination
12-01-2007, 09:49 PM
I just realize how hard it was to make songs...

Shaun
12-02-2007, 05:01 AM
I completely agree with the reasons for keeping YWO members on the lyrics. Although, bringing new people over here would be awesome! Bring some lyricists over :P

Eve
12-02-2007, 09:14 AM
Sure. Or I could just ask my younger brother to do it.

jordanisonfire
12-02-2007, 09:56 PM
Here's some lyrics parodied from the Backstreets Boys song "I Want It That Way". Inspired by "Weird Al" Yankovic. :D

--------

Yeah

I want to be a writer
It’s my one desire
Believe it when I say
It’s always gonna be that way

You can do both writing and art
Write straight from your emotional heart
And believe me when I say
It’s always gonna be that way

Let me write
Ain’t nothing but a headache
Let me write
‘Cos you’re writing is cliché
Let me write
And you gotta believe it when I say
It’s always gonna be that way

Do you wanna be a writer
You’re one desire
It’s mine and your’s fate (Kinda forced I know :P)
And it’s always gonna be that way

Now I can see you wanna do art
But you’re gonna fail, yeah
No matter the effort
I want you to know
That deep down inside me…

You’re gonna be a writer
It’ll be you’re one desire
You will
You will, you will, you will

Don’t wanna hear you say
You’re writing is cliché
Ain’t nothing but a headache
(Ain’t nothing but a headache)
I want you to say
It’s never gonna be that way

Let me write
You’re never gonna be late
Let me write
You’re creativity’s good at any rate
Let me write
I never wanna hear you say
(Don’t wanna hear you say it)
My writing is cliché
My writing is cliché

Oh my gosh, Shadow! That's incredible. Some of the number-of-syllables-per-line are a little off, but it's great. The rhymes, the message, very cool. You're getting a Thank whether you like it or not. :approve:

Eve
12-03-2007, 05:22 AM
That was great! So we're using this one?

jordanisonfire
12-03-2007, 06:22 PM
Wait, wait wait! You guys think it's good? Thanks. :D But, there's one problem: it doesn't fit in with Eve's music and I'd hate to make her go to all that trouble for nothing.

Shaun
12-03-2007, 06:29 PM
Well, yeah, we should stick to Eve's, especially considering where the original material of your song came from :P

jordanisonfire
12-03-2007, 06:31 PM
Well, we're allowed to parody something! :D It's not like the Backstreet Boys are gonna find this site... right? :worried:

Shaun
12-03-2007, 07:25 PM
No, but I imagine the RIAA would throw a fit, because that's what they like to do.

The irony? All that anti-piracy stuff that everyone is doing hasn't worked one bit. People are still pirating at the same rate.

Nyx
12-04-2007, 12:22 AM

Eve
12-04-2007, 01:05 AM

Shaun
12-04-2007, 02:56 AM
Well we can keep it, I have no problem with that.

Eve
12-04-2007, 08:12 AM
I found a singer. Here's one song she sang from my collection. (The first singing song I have heard when I was a child.) There are more singers though. Here's just one:

http://media.putfile.com/If-48

jordanisonfire
12-04-2007, 07:54 PM
She's very good. :) How old is she? I think we should hold a vote as to whether scrap Eve's music an go with my lyrics or scrap my lyrics and go with Eve's music. I think we should go with Eve's music, as she's obviously worked hard on it and I'd hate to have her waste her time for something I wrote in five minutes. Shall we have a vote?

Shaun
12-04-2007, 08:44 PM
She sounds extremely young and her voice, while good, does need a lot of developing. Do tell her not to ever give up on this. Good, decent singers are hard to find. If she sells out now and becomes Britney Spears who, while I'm sure able to sing in tune, is an entertainer and not a great singer she will have lost her gift entirely. It takes years upon years of intense practice to develop vocal talent and if you have a good voice for singing from the start, which this sounds like, it is worth investing to make it better.
I almost think that we should sing Eve's song and have members of YWO sing it, with perhaps a real singer thrown in for the introductory chorus.
Did you all ever see Salute Your Shorts? Remember the intro to that? It was this song that all the characters ended up singing parts of, which was supposed to be the camps sort of 'theme song'. It was terrible and funny and cute all at the same time. The only one with any music talent in the group actually now plays guitar for a bad with a fellow child actor. I think we should do something like that. We could all just sing the chorus and someone could edit chunks of each of our voices in or something. I just feel that if we give the entire song to someone that isn't part of YWO that it would take away from the power of the song in the first place. I'm all for having someone who can sing actually do some of the song, just not all of it.

Eve
12-05-2007, 05:57 AM
Actually, she is from this site. So, you want her to sing this song?

Shaun
12-05-2007, 06:17 AM
She's from YWO? ...is it you? or is it someone else? I'm so lost!!!

Eve
12-05-2007, 06:23 AM
Um.... help! Um... that's um... Gulps! Help! She's um.... Faints

Shaun
12-05-2007, 06:34 AM
Who is it? Someone fess up! I would like her to sing the song, certainly, but I want us all to have some part in it, or at least people willing to have a part. I don't mind singing. It will be terrible, but that's the point...it'll sound funny :D.

Eve
12-05-2007, 06:39 AM
Yeah, of course. There's no problem with that. Do you want it to be like a choir? I just downloaded this audio editing which would be great if we are doing as a group. :)

Shaun
12-05-2007, 07:02 AM
If we could somehow mix everyone together in the end that would be hilarious...provided we could stay in tune a little bit...

Rafael Domination
12-05-2007, 08:04 AM
How are we going to get everyone together...I don't know how to connect a mike to the computer, and if I recall correctly, the last time I tried karoke, my family temporarily disowned me for signing so terrible...

Eve
12-05-2007, 12:02 PM
*Laughs* I've got a recorder myself but I always go out of tune. And I sound very different when I read.

MY HEART WILL GO ON

Eve
12-06-2007, 01:18 AM
Ok, I'm feeling really bad now. Both of them were me. Embarrassing, isn't it? *Hides face* I never sang before except when I go to Church and singing the school song and the national anthem least of all sing in front of anybody. This is really embarrassing. I always go out of tune. Both of them have many parts that are out of tune and that's really worth blushing about.

Amazing! I'd rather hear you sing than me sing anyday. Great job. You get a thanks for that.

You're young. You need to practice. Your voice is good, but it takes a lot practice and training to get a solid voice. And if you have a nice voice to begin with it's worth practicing.

Thanks. The problem is that I never liked singing :hide: and everyone is convinced that I'm 7 years old. :glare:

Well if you don't like singing, then don't do it :P. But if you enjoy singing, even just for fun, then do it :). You don't have to sing and be a professional. You can just learn for enjoyment. I have no desire to be a famous trumpet player, but I still play trumpet and only for fun. I have no desire to compete with my playing, which is why I have never taken an upper level music course in college. If I have to audition to get a part I'm not interested. I play for fun and for MY enjoyment, not for any other reason.

You play the trumpet? I never knew that! That's pretty cool.

Thanks Shaun. But I love this site. So I guess I wouldn't mind!

Yup, I play trumpet :D. And no, I'm not going to play for the YWO theme song...

Yes, me and Shaun will sound great. :) He can play the trumpet whilst I play the electric guitar. :P

If you need the notes, I'll pass you a larger one for you. I'll think of some lyrics to go with this.
