What is a blurb exactly? Is it another name for a synopsis?
What different character traits come from abuse? I heard some can be quiet, others can be unusually obedient, etc.

Nope. Actually a blurb is the term used for all those quotes you see on books from authors and reviewers praising the work of the one who wrote that particular book. I'm can't remember what the term for the synopsis on the back of the book is. Probably just synopsis, but one needs to distinguish between the back cover and the synopsis you send when wanting to get published, which are completely different things.
I don't know what you really want from the second question. To be honest, almost ANY trait can come from abuse. The thing about abuse is that it affects us all in different ways. The more likely traits to develop in younger folks who experience abuse are things like acting out (violently, verbally, or a combination) in school, self-mutilation (cutting or other things), receding into one's self (being quiet, withdrawn, etc.), etc. You should research it if you really want to be accurate with it, though. It's not hard. Google would help a lot there, and it would really help to make your characters well rounded.
