Okay, everyone's inspired by different things. What makes you want to sit down and write?

For me, it's episodes of Stargate and Avatar, and sometimes really good movies or TV commercials for those movies. :) And good books as well, if there's a particularly exciting or creative part.

Maybe this sounds contrived, but my brain generally inspires me. Sometimes I'll watch something on TV, or a movie, or read a book and I'll go "I want to write", but more often than not I'll sit down and suddenly get a burst of inspiration, and then I'll start writing. And that's that.
I know there are some authors who have inspired me to keep writing, and some that inspired to start writing. I started writing seriously because of a high school teacher I had and I was further influenced by people like Orson Scott Card, John Scalzi, Tobia Buckell, and now Dana Copithorne, and many others whose work I have adored. But, mostly, it's just my head.

For me it's mostly books. Sometimes really good movies but mostly books. When I read something that I absoloutely love I inspire to write like that one day and that's what gets me going.:D

What inspires me? Pain and suffering. Sometimes I drink childrens' tears for inspiration.

Any movie with EXCELLENT visual effects, computer graphics, fight scenes, and unique feels that haunt me afterwards. Namely Advent Children, Return of the King, Star Wars, and stuff like that...

Well, I just think. Just think. That inspires me. A lot. :) So, in a way, my brain is also kind of my inspiration. Too bad its crap in the knowledgeable area. :D

For me, I just let my imagination run wild and try chasing it. I never caught up. It always goes much too fast than my pen. I only stop when I start thinking about ancient swords marry the ugly princesses but accidentally kill the latter instead.

Music inspires me, like right now I'm listening to Dust by Fleetwood Mac... and it's put me in the "writing mood" :P

A lot of things inspire me.

Music is a big influence on what I write. I listen to Alice Cooper songs all the time, and every song I hear, I imagine a story for it. I've actually written a story about one of his songs. So music really gives me ideas.

Reading. I read a lot. Every time I read a book, I sit down and write two to three new stories, all because the book I'm reading inspires me.
My writing style is actually a spitting image to that of one of my favorite authors, Richard Laymon.

Life is also a great influence. You see stuff thats going on in Iraq and the world and you wonder, "What if things were different?"
So you write about those ideas, and usually they lead you down the path to a great story or poem.

I write about whatever pops into my mind.
I love writing horror stories with animals in them. Something about rapid, insane, pissed of animals is scary to me.

Movies and television also give me great ideas.

Basically, everything around me influences what I write. I never write when I'm mad, or upset, I just can't.

I mean really, who can? People say, "I write my best work when I'm mad or upset."
Really? Do you really want to write when your mad? I don't. All my stories are twisted and morbid, and people assume I'm this neurotic, insane troubled kid.

I'm not. I'm happy and my happiness is what makes me write. I write for myself, I write for practice.

But most of all, I write to entertain. And hopefully, you'll all be entertained with my work.

Lots of things inspire me. My friends the most though, I like the way they all get on and have their own uniqueness, being around them makes me happy which also helps. :)
Music is always good for inspiration, I find my mood also determines what and how I write and music can manipulate my feelings . . .
If I am really stuck for inspiration I go for a walk and find a river or something nice somewhere. I take my notebook with me and I write anything that comes into my mind.
There are loads of other way too, like looking up cool pictures or quotes on the internet, talking to people. Something one of my friends used to was to ask three people for an item eg. a ring, a chocolate bar or a pencil. A place eg. up a tree, in Neverland, on top of a train . . . And a person, eg. Lawer, run away, dog or a dustbin man. Then she would try to make a story from it. Usually it was very strange though . . .
Inspiration is everywhere, you just got to look closer. :)
