Haven't been very active around here lately anyway, but this week I've actually got a reason for it. My last dance performance before college is this week, which means rehearsal and/or a show Monday through Saturday.

This time I'll admit I have nothing left to distract me, I finished my semester and I successfully directed and acted in a musical that we performed on Friday and now that everything is off my plate I feel like writing again, it's like there's an empty hole in me that needs to be filled, but I feel so out of practice, so be on the look out for me, playing survival by suicide, hanging in the common room at first and by all means if you want something critiqued I will gladly do it, just give me some time to be able to crank out paragraphs worthy of everyone's eyes again.

You only posted 1 piece and you had an extraordinarily good critique on it that you could use to improve yourself. And you're leaving because you think people don't like your work?

1. Not everything you write will be liked. That's just a fact, not because you're bad or people are jealous. You cannot appeal to everyone, period.

2. That critique was really good. You can easily improve yourself through that. Many friends and teachers give little help aside from the ego-boost because they are nice, but at least here, you'd have a really good peer review.

But if you're going to leave, fine. That's your choice. I hope you can find another small community that could give you some good advice and reviews as well as here.

The critique system runs on a give-take. You give a good critique in order to receive one. You'd want all the help you can get on your story and everyone here, whom also write, want to have a good critique on theirs.

The more you learn on how to critique and review, the better you get at in your own writing. It becomes easier to spot mistakes by yourself, but at the same time, you recognize your need for other people's reviews on your own work.

I can spot mistakes on other people's work and can tell them about it, but at the same time, I make those same mistakes on my own work xD I'm terrible.

I apologize if my critique of your work came across as harsh. I did say at the end that my comments were meant to help you, as I was pointing out errors or areas where you could improve. I sought to educate you, and challenge you in a constructive way. If you choose to ultimately stay in a safer realm where you know everyone who reads your writing is going to be very supportive, then that is your decision. If you wish to grow as a writer, however, you will have to come to terms with the fact that nothing you write will be perfect (no one can write perfectly) and loved by everyone. The sooner you accept constructive criticism, the sooner you will allow yourself to grow as a writer.

When that time comes, also note that this is likely one of the least-hostile environments for sharing your work you can find. I've seen many other forums with older writers who absolutely TEAR works apart. They point out what's wrong, but don't necessarily point how how to fix it. I believe if you abandon this forum, you are giving up a valuable resource.
