I think I like reading better because well it's always there with tons of different options to help me with any emotion or when I'm just bored. But writing takes time and effort and helps me with some emotions but not all. Reading is much easier too for one thing, I mean the author has already done the work, all I have to do is curl up on the couch and get lost in the book.

I like them about the same. While reading is a fun way to fight boredom and a good way to procrastinate :), I like creating my own stuff just as much, even though it goes so slowly.

I like them both because I can be into one and not the other at different times. Plus, writing your own stories is awesome, and reader other stories is great too :)

Well... really it is like those nasty things in Geometry.

You can read without writing. But, you cannot write without reading. What are they called? Postulates and converses and all those...

With writing, reading is a must. I like both. A lot. I learn so much from analyzing other writers, but at the same time I have to actually write to learn how to do what they do, and in my own way. I really don't think I could live with just one.

Reading is awesome because you don't have to do anything, but writing is just as awesome because it's much more rewarding in the long run.

So: Both.

I like reading, cause it's fun, and exactly what....Nyx I think said, all you have to do is curl up on a couch and read it. But I like writing to because it's so free and you can do anything you want to. I think I prefer poetry to prose though when it comes to writing.

I like them both because neither can exist in me without the other, basically. If I hadn't started reading properly, I wouldn't have began writing. If I hadn't begun writing, then I'd have had no inclination to read properly (all those years ago).

Yup, when writing, whatever I say, goes. I like that.

I like writing because of loads of reasons.

But reading is better sometimes (for me), when I want to relax. I only read comedy when I want to chill out because reading any other genre of books will only make me think about it, evaluate certain chapters, daydream and if it's really good, go crazy over it. Which is why I'm scared of reading those fantasy novels... T_T I might get addicted.

Okay, my point is, I love reading comedy, but I can't write comedy, so I like both, because a) reading relaxes me and b) writing... (see top of post)

Cheers. :)

I love to do four things:

Write
Draw
Read
Cooking up fight scenes

That way, if even three of them fails to amuse me, I've got one more to keep me busy - that is, if I'm not doing schoolwork or running errands...

If you do posts with that amount of creativity all the time, then I'm gonna enjoy reading your posts. :D

WOW thanks. :D Errrm... Creativity as in...? That was my first ever post on YWO. I wanted to edit it, but the edit feature was kinda creeepy. I didn't want to create a disaster so I left it alone. (thank goodness!)

Creativity as in how you made the words look. :)

I like both, they are like so many things in life: you can't have one without the other.

Reading is cool, but writing shows one's creativity.

I like reading better because it helps me to write and also it's good to read a whole story at once and be excited about it than writing a story that is in a muddle or you're not sure where it's going.
But reading finnished writing is a great feeling. :)

Hehehe.

The thing is, I like to write much more than I should, meaning I have no life when I get the brain juices flowing. On the other hand, I like to read even more than that, so I always procrastinate with my writing.

For example, I rationalize with myself: "What if you read this book, and say, 'what if?' and are suddenly struck with the most radical idea there has ever been? What if you don't read it, and thus deny yourself the possibility of said radical idea?...."

It goes on...and on...and on...and I read to pass the time while I argue with myself.

I like them both about the same.
I like writing because I can't let out my emotions into whatever I want.
I like reading because it is good on a cold winter day with some hot chocolate.

Well, to improve my writing skills I need to read books, which is also enjoyable.
I love to imagine the stories I read, but also to imagine my own stories.

I much prefer writing to reading, mainly because I enjoy getting down my own ideas over reading some other person's.

I used to read more until I got down to writing. Somehow the desire to create something literary that belongs to me took over. It's not that I stopped reading altogether, just that I need a much more compelling plot to urge me to pick up someone else's work and follow it to the end.

That's exactly how I am!

Bout the same… I do read more but that's usually cause I can't be bothered to keep on asking for permission to go on the comp and I have no intention of killing my hand… ;)

I like both, but I started reading first. Reading is amazing because you can fall so deeply into the book that you forget all of your own problems. Plus, whenever I read an amazing book, I practically dance around my room at the exciting parts. Reading is fun too, though, because you can do whatever and take out all your own frustration or happiness on the characters you create.

Writing, it helps to express emotions when you don't do well with talking to people.:)

Hard to pick. I think writing. I like to create things and add my own art to the greater collective of literature, so that it can be appreciated in the same way I appreciate the books I read. The pleasure I can give someone else is greater than the pleasure I can receive. That's a bit cheesy, but it's part of the reason I write. I want people to feel the things I feel when I read, or when I'm experiencing a character or situation.

Its even. without writing there is no reading, and if nobody reads what is writtin what is the point of writing at all?

The same but that's only because reading can be more entertaining, unless the book is terrible or doesn't go the way you want it to.
