View Full Version : Holidays to Celebrate?

Alright guys, since Andy and I are American, we don't know a whole lot about other countries (namely the UK and Canada, from which we have members). So we need to know what holidays are the most important in your countries. Not just a holiday you get the day off from, but a holiday that really has significance. Such as for America, we have July 4th, Independence Day, which is very important because, well, the Declaration of Independence...yeah.
Christmas, Hannakuh, and New Years are already included. We also have the U.S. holidays of importance added.

So please suggest some things you think we should celebrate. This is an international community. Andy and I want to respect the cultures of other countries too!

On a side note, if you have suggestions of what sort of things we could do for the holidays (any of them), please let us know. We are wanting to do silly things to our logo, have temporary icon changes, and give away points or other prizes. Contests are another thing we should start thinking about, especially since Christmas is coming.

Anyway, the UK has no good holidays. We have the Saints' days, but really only the Scottish and Irish care ...

The 21st September is a highly-celebrated day, though. You should add that to the calendar.

Honestly, hundreds of sites do special stuff for holidays. TW's not the only one, and it certainly wasn't the first. :rolleyes:

I think we should do decorations for the first day of each season, too. Or maybe not, since the southern hemisphere's different.

Yeah, I've just realised, the english don't have any good holidays that americans don't have. Never thought of it...

In Canada we pretty much have the same as the States.
I honestly never really pay attention to holidays except Remembrance, Christmas, and Easter.

yea I think Rememberance Day is basically the only special holiday that is only Canadian.
