Hey everybody!
THis is a contest for ALL BEGINNERS! THe objective is to write a piece of literature, poem, short story, etc. about our theme. Whatever you do, it must be under 500 words!


The Rules:

Your work must be submitted by February 28, 2009.
Your work must be under 500 words!
The work you submit must apply to the theme.
You must be a beginner writer, none of those fancy experts!



Alright guys, the theme is: Ghosts!
Your work must relate to ghosts in some way!

This seems interesting. But problem. When you say beginner writers do you mean beginner writers here on YWO or beginner writers like actual beginner-beginners?

Okay! So, I'm new- and although not new to writing, I don't often do poetry! I'm totally a story person, so I thought it'd be fairer (as the Simmi's question hasn't been answered yet) if I did this. Besides, I like challenges! Okay. So. Ghost Poetry. Here is what I've got:


Empyrean Enigma

Nothing has changed,
but everything is different.

Her touches still rouse my body,
but mutate as unwelcome shivers.
She lies beside my slumbering form,
but I grasp only forsaken covers.

Her eternal companionship continues,
but she has already fled from here.
She maintains her words of wisdom,
but they no longer grace my ear.

Her vivacious form is grounded,
but she pays no heed to doors.
She is transcendent in every aspect,
but no passing man takes pause.

Her feet proceed to walk this plane,
but they’re denied footsteps in the dust.
She becomes my guardian everlasting,
but the unseen cannot have my trust.

The world has warped,
but there is no deviation.
