View Full Version : The Lying Game

I can't remember where I got this, but let's give it a go and see if people like it or not. I think it can actually help people learn more about each other.

Basically, you will write three things about yourself. One of those three things, will be a lie. The poster below has to single out which statement is a lie, and if they chose correctly as confirmed by the original poster, then the new guy will state three things about themselves and continue on.

Example (Oh, and I know the lie in this group is painfully obvious, don't make the lie that obvious but I just picked the obvious one as an example):
Guy 1: I was born in Australia
My first language is Lebanese
I've been to outer space twice

Guy 2: You haven't been to outer space twice! Liar!

Guy 1: Yep, you're up.

Guy 2: *Posts three things*

As I said, don't pick painfully obvious lies like "I've been to outer space!," but do use a bit of clever trickery. If you can, pick something that is true and outrageous about yourself, but make the lie much more subtle and easier to believe at first glance. It makes the game more challenging.

So let's get us started.

I was born in Birmingham.
Sushi is my favourite food.
Eddie Van Halen is one of my mums old friends.

I'm going to go with number three.

Nope. Mum met Eddie on several occasions in California and I know they were good friends for a little while. She says hes really nice but apparently his other bandmate wasn't. I met Eddie once, I was pretty young but it was still pretty cool, so I kind of remember it. :P

Number 1 (Its easy because on the first post it says that you were born in Oz)

Number 1 (Its easy because on the first post it says that you were born in Oz)

That was simply an example, none of that really applied to me. I'm a Brummie and damn proud of it! So that really only leaves one possibility.. so let it be said that I DESPISE SUSHI. I hate it with a passion.

I'm not really how to determine who goes next in this situation, I didn't really think that through... so, erm, Well, whoever wants the turn can have it. That's really the only thing I can think of. (I probably should've imagined this type of situation happening. Never start a thread when you're half asleep..)

Nope, it was number one. My mom sells diapers and sent some to Mathew McConaghay and he sent a letter and autograph back. Also my cousin is best friends with Allie Landry, she used to live a few minutes from my house. When I was in San Fransisco we had dinner together :). But I've never won a cruise :P.

Next person?

My father once crossed paths with the British Prime Minister in an airplane back in the '80's.
