I'm curious what everyone thinks about the idea of commissioning written work from published authors. I know several authors personally and they may be willing to write either articles, short stories, or reviews, etc.

So, on that subject, what would you be okay with appearing in the magazine? You may select more than one and please leave a post to explain your reasonings behind your choice/s. My idea is that SBS could be somewhat like IGMS (Intergalactic Medicine Show) or Clarkesworld, where published authors are mixed with unpublished authors every issue, only SBS would still be almost entirely fixed on unpublished (published authors would simply be there to supplement, I suppose).

Anywho!

*pokes* There's no poll yet!

Are you really still that desperate for submissions? I wouldn't have a problem with it, as long as the focus was on unpublished authors and they were given higher priority. Anything to get this stupid mag out already.

Articles on Writing (the Life)
Literacy Criticism
Articles On Subjects
Articles on Writing (definitely)

Mm, that's what I chose... if you didn't guess already. I don't even see why I posted this, its not like anyone's interested in what I put. :D

/spam (so I don't feel guilty)

I'm with Shadow. I wouldn't have any problem with including any published authors in the magazine.

Similar to Shadow, ayep, but I think... these are what I'd like to see!

* Articles On Writing (the Life) -- This would be cool, because alot of people (Like me!) would like more of an insight on how being an author/writer/etc affects everyday life, 'you' personally and how they've got to that point of their career/hobby. It'd be nice to hear some relatively unsung authors speaking in this case, not ones that are World-Famous. :)

* Literary Criticism -- Yummy. This is just absolutely from someone who knows what their doing! Whether criticism for a specific piece of material that is reviewed by the author (Which might take a bit more persuading... or bribing, as the case may be) or just standard or even in-depth tips, this would be most welcomed by me!

* Articles On Subjects -- Specfic targets of discussion like opinions on genre, concepts, plotline ideas, world-building and character construction/development. This will all be useful, and will never get old! A unique viewpoint from different people is definitely a bonus if you truly want to branch out into new styles, or develop your own eventually.

I selected Short Stories, but on second though I would also like to see Articles on Writing by masters of the craft.
