This club is for anyone who likes fantasy! Here we can discuss reading it, writing it, fantasy TV shows, books, magic, aspects of fantasy, critique requests for fantasy/sci-fi, whatever. You get the idea. And we can throw fantastic ideas at each other. Or spells, whichever you choose. :)

We also need to create our own fantasy worlds and creatures, and then set them loose upon each other like Stephen King likes to do ("I try to create sympathy for my characters, then turn the monsters loose." - Stephen King). Maybe we could roleplay a bit, too. We'll see how it goes.

So, has anything influenced your work? I blame my story partly on Stargate and Avatar, and some video games.. :D

I know George R. R. Martin has influenced my work, but the most he's done is convince me to be original, and to focus more on inter-character relationships than good and evil. I'm still struggling with all of that, of course, but I try.

Other stuff has probably subconsciously influenced plotlines, etc, but I wouldn't be aware.

I've noticed that in the first post, where you list the members of the club, everyone else has -Age, -Profession, etc, while I have 1. Human, 2. Seven. The format is jarring with my mind, and it doesn't make that much sense anyway. So I've edited it to conform with the others, and if you want to, you can copy and paste to edit it into your first post. Um, the end.

This is what I have now:

In roleplaying, the pariticpants each adopt a character and write from that character’s point of view. Each person takes turn writing a segment, and the resulting roleplay ends up looking like a story that switches Point of View every two paragraphs or so.

Does it make sense?

Anyway, I'm sorry that I really can't get into the roleplay right now, or even spend much time here. I'm on the verge of flunking Calc II unless I study a lot. The only good news is that I write for a little while in between every hour or studying or so, which sort of motivates me more. So...sorry. :(

I have a plan. No one dies and no one gets fatally wounded. Of course, Glyr is going to get more than a few scratches, whether he's been possessed by the Spirit or not. And there's not going to be many allies between us, I'll bet. I mean, if we're going to be realistic there won't be. You don't be allies with someone who's just gone crazy and seems to be some kind of monster that tries to kill you. :rolleyes:

I don't get your plot either, Shadow. xD But here's what I do understand so far of character motives.

Vren: Wants to be left alone, really. Her life was going fine just the way it was. Wants her parents, also. Wherever they are.

Glyr: Wants to protect characters from Quietus. Except that he's given up, really.

Nyx: Wants to manipulate characters?

Senna: Wants to protect characters. Um, like Vren.

Quietus: Motives undisclosed. Presumably evil.

Rafael: Um--I forget. xD

Anyway, there's definitely potential for conflict, but right now I'm wondering how we can avoid staged fights, etc. Obviously, none of us want our characters to die. (I think.) Most of us don't want our characters to lose either. (Me not included. Tragedy=fun!) But we don't want this to degenerate into some random fight where the characters try to kill each other and fail. Again. And again. And again.

So--any ideas? Is it possible to come up with alliances? I could totally ally Vren with an evil character and have no idea what she's doing. Especially since she has no idea what she's doing. I dunno--

And what's Shadow's plan anyway? -stares at Shadow-

I don't know how fun it'd be if we knew each other's motives, I think the fun part of roleplaying is watching it all unravel. I actually wouldn't mind my character loosing a bit here and there, I'm sure we won't have to kill anyone off yet though. Anyways I think loosing helps a character become stronger and more realistic but that's all a bunch of my lame opinions so...

I assumed your character was a child... am I wrong? Anyway, Glyr has a tormented and secret past that very few people in the world know. A lot of people know him, as he's like a Crusader for Virtue, sort of thing. He basically travels across the world and attempts to eradicate evil and help those of virtue he can. Although, this is made harder by his occasional possessions by the Spirit. How the Spirit got into him in the first place... I haven't decided when I'll add that yet. :rolleyes: And Glyr did try to establish an alliance with all of you, except Quietus and Rafael, but you all turned him down. Shame on you! :P

Oh, yeah... forgot that little piece of info. Let's just say my character saw through it, as he's a master in all schools of magic, except necromancy. Now you'll say that he's the ultimate character, but he's not. He can't use any weapons, but he's ok with his fists.

Yep it's mostly that, the fact that there's no line to how crazy your characters and their settings can be and how it's impossible to run out...reality runs out much faster than imagination.
